Oyoyo Baby

in Music3 days ago

One of the things I enjoy while listening to the radio is discovering and picking out unique songs, songs I would not have thought of on my own, mostly because they are not common or frequently talked about, unlike the top trending songs of the moment.

Last week, I went on the web to gamble-search for a song I had heard many times on the radio. I felt it was one of those songs I should have on my phone for regular play because I genuinely loved its uniqueness. I also knew the song was not common because it is not talked about on social media, and it is not from any of the top artists in Nigeria.

I tried searching for it, but unfortunately, the only lyric I could remember was a simple line: "see my baby." As expected, a lot of songs came up with similar lyrics. Little did I know that I actually skipped the correct song because the songwriter’s name sounded too unfamiliar. I went on to check countless other results, but none of them gave me the song I was looking for.

I was so serious about finding it that I even tried singing into Shazam, hoping it would recognize the song. Sadly, the Shazam app practically laughed at my deep-voiced and laughable version of "see my baby."

Three days later, while listening to the radio again, the song came on once more. This time, I quickly picked up my pen and notebook and jotted down some solid lines from the song. I also used Shazam immediately, and fortunately, I finally got the full details.

I went straight to YouTube to search for it, and honestly, I fell in love with the song even more after watching the video. The song is owned by an upcoming artist JAH WONDA, and it is simply too good not to make big waves like the trending songs released by the so-called big boys.

Interestingly, the song has two videos. One is done in a movie-like, dramatic pattern, which is not the official video, but I personally love it more.

The other one follows a more musical and performance-based pattern, but it feels a bit too serious for my taste.

Ever since I finally found the song, it has been on repeat.

Thanks for reading.

Thank you for sharing this Nigerian song, with its seductive sound and rhythms, and that singer with such a pleasant voice, with a hint of sensuality and mischief. Greetings, @kingsleyy.
