Let me share those nice videos I stumbled upon recently. The tunes go for #threetunestuesday challenge -- they are neither something unique nor secretly less known stuff, but the clips turned out new to me; and sharing is caring 😎 So, worth your attention: Leonard Cohen, Egor Letov, Messer chups.
Leonard Cohen - First We Take Manhattan
Cohen doesn't have any bad songs—it's just that some (for me personally) are incredibly satisfying and light years ahead of the rest. This song isn't on my short list of the very best, perhaps because I've never bothered to translate its lyrics. Also, speaking of videos, I've mostly seen concert videos—I had no idea that "proper" official videos like this existed. Perhaps this will push me ... to re-think and change my Cohen top 10 list. Beautiful video!
У Коэна нет плохих песен - просто некоторые нравятся до мурашек и на тысячу световых лет опережают другие. Эта песня не входит в мой список самых-самых, возможно, потому что я никогда не давал себе труд перевести ее текст. Ну и говоря про видеоклипы, мне попадались главным образом концертные; я не подозревал, что существуют "нормальные" официальные видеоклипы, как этот. Возможно, через энное время мой топ-список изменится. Красивое видео!
Messer chups - Жека уже в Гамбурге!
It is not a usual case for the cover song to overcome the original, but sometimes it happens. Messer Chups created a wonderful electronic arrangement of Yegor Letov's rousing melody, "Jekka Already in Hamburg." While not being superior to the original, it's certainly on a level no worse, and it only highlights and develops the potential of original. The fan-made video clip was cut up from the old Soviet film "Chief of Chukotka" – look how perfectly they fit together... in fact, such a tune can fertilize almost anything!
Исчезающе редки случаи, когда кавер оказывается лучше оригинальной версии. Messer chups сделали замечательную электронную обработку зажигательной мелодии Егора Летова "Жека уже в Гамбурге", которая возможно и не лучше оригинала, но на достойном уровне, не хуже, и только подчеркивает и развивает его потенциал. Фэнский клип получил видео из старого советского фильма "Начальник Чукотки" - посмотрите, как замечательно они подошли друг к другу... на самом деле, такая мелодия может позитивно оплодотворить многое, почти что угодно!

When last week I saw this video clip, cut from the classic Soviet comedy "The Diamond Hand" (1968), I realized it was a 146% match - the track, full of retro vibes, received appropriate visuals, as if it was filmed for it on purpose.
