RE: Let’s explore the Dutch fortified town of HEUSDEN with me ~ Heusden The Netherlands 🇳🇱 little update journey at the end

in Photography Lovers12 days ago

I really enjoyed reading this post! And you were fortunate to have the streets to yourselves, seeing that it was nice and quiet.

As always, I love the architecture of these buildings. Seeing your photos, I think this is a place that needs to go on a bucket list to be visited for sure! It looks so peaceful!

Something else that struck me was the resemblance I saw when I looked at your photo of the street map of the city with the Castle of Good Hope we still have here in Cape Town, South Africa. It doesn't look the same, but at first glance, there was a resemblance I saw in the outlines.

The Castle of Good Hope was also built by the Dutch when they first arrived in South Africa. Here is a link of the layout of the Castle as seen on their website, castleofgoodhope.co.za

If you have some time, have a look and let me know if you can see that too, or is it just me?

Have a great day, @littlebee4👍!

Just the way I like it @jacoalberts 😊 not many people around… hehe
Sorry for my late reply. Lots happening right now and my health isn’t good lately.

The town is a place one should visit if ever in that area. I lived for 27 years in The Netherlands and never visited it before. A shame… luckily I found it this time on our long journey to bring the first half of our belongings down south 3000 km away.
Packing up the other half right now for a full move mid October.

Of course I checked the castle out and I do see a resemblance with the layout of this entire town. Magnificent structures, both of them. The Dutch were very clever back in the days. A proper fortress to make sure nobody came in.
Thank you for checking out my post and sharing your thoughts.
Have a beautiful day my friend. Hope all is well.

No problem, @littlebee4! But it's not okay to hear that your health is not good lately... Please take good care of yourself.

I'm glad you found it this time. But on a journey over 3000 km? Wow, that's a long journey! And you have to do it again shortly with the other half of your belongings. I can imagine that this is when you would rather take it calmly and enjoy the journey instead of being in a rush!

Yes, I am still amazed by the resemblance of the castle to the layout of the town! Wow! Yes, the Dutch were very clever indeed! Well, to think of it, they were the ones who actually started development at the southern end of Africa. At this point in time, I prefer to be too outspoken depending on who I am talking to. Because here in South Africa, it can lead to heated arguments during these times we are living in. I'm sure you know what I mean...lol.

It's always a pleasure to check out your posts! I enjoy your work. I might not always comment every time (often pushed for time), but I always love checking out your posts! I want to start paying more attention to the way I schedule my time. I hope to start improving that during this month.

All is well on this side, thank you! Have a great day!
