Most of the time when I take photographs, I focus more on portraits and, lately, street photography, which certainly doesn't give me much room for versatility, but some time ago I was asked to cover an event that combined therapy and art. I found it interesting, so when the day came, I took photographs while each participant carried out their activity. This time, I tried not to focus so much on portraits (although that's obviously what I enjoy doing most), but rather on moments that were in keeping with the activity, and that's what I want to share with you today.
En la mayoría de ocasiones que hago fotografías siempre va más centrado a los retratos y últimamente a las fotografías callejeras, lo cual no me da mucho margen de versatilidad ciertamente, pero hace un tiempo me habían hablado para cubrir un evento donde combinaban la terapia y el arte, me pareció interesante, llegó el día y estuve haciendo fotografías mientras cada participante realizaba su actividad, en esta ocasión intenté no centrarme tanto en los retratos (aunque evidentemente es lo que más disfruto de hacer), sino en momentos que fuesen acorde con la actividad y es lo que quiero compartir con ustedes el día de hoy.
Various activities were planned for this event, but due to scheduling issues, I was only able to cover one of them, which consisted of creating a figure with paint and paper, as if it were a painting, with the children acting as painters using other types of materials. At first, they didn't seem very convinced; I suppose not all of them had a clear idea of what they wanted to do. But as the minutes passed and they began to shape their figures, everything became more enjoyable, and you could hear how much each of them was enjoying themselves. I think you can also see their concentration in the photographs.
En este evento se realizarían distintas actividades, pero por temas de horario solo pude cubrir una de ellas, la cual consistía en formar una figura con pintura y papel, como si de un cuadro se tratase y ellos los pintores con otro tipo de materiales, al principio no los veía muy convencidos, supongo que no todos tenían una idea clara de lo que querían hacer, pero al pasar los minutos y empezar a darle forma a sus figuras todo empezó a ser más ameno y se escuchaba el disfrute de cada uno de ellos y creo que se puede apreciar en las fotografías también la concentración del momento.
Since this was a fairly natural and peaceful event, I wanted both the photographs and the development to be similar, so I edited the frames I took and the moments I thought were most appropriate in a way that was very natural. I tried not to change colors or make things look too artificial, but rather to keep everything as balanced as possible, just highlighting what was already there and adding a little light, as well as a slightly golden tone to match the quality that was felt in the atmosphere.
Como este se trataba de un evento bastante natural y tranquilo quise que tanto las fotografías como el revelado fuesen similares, por lo cual desde los encuadres que hice, como los momentos que creí más adecuados los edité de manera que fuese muy natural, intenté no cambiar colores, ni dar aspecto de muy artificial las cosas, sino todo lo contrario, mantener todo lo más equilibrado posible, solo resaltar lo que ya estaba y dar un poco de luz también, además de esa tonalidad un poco dorada para igualar esa calidad que se sentía en el ambiente.
