Asereje: Las Ketchup - My musical choice of the day and Rising Star Statistics

In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.

Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Strutter from the legendary american band Kiss.

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Asereje from the iconic band Grupo Arenas.

For my choice today, I'm going to bring you a song that I discovered in a rather bizarre way over the last few weeks. It turns out that a few days ago, I was bored watching Reels on Instagram until I came across one that really caught my attention.

In the Reel, there were two people performing a rather iconic Spanish song, singing it part by part between them. To be honest, at first I didn't understand much until I realized it was a pretty well-known song. So the first thing I did was find out more about that song. That's how I ended up with a song from a genre that isn't my favorite, but I ended up loving it because of how catchy it is and the vocalists' great performance.

The song I was talking about is Asereje by the group Las Ketchup. At first, when I searched for this song for the first time, I came across several groups that covered it, so I thought it was a group called Grupo Arenas. But after doing some research to include it in this post, I realized that the song was originally performed by an iconic Spanish group.

Las Ketchup is a Spanish girl group formed in the province of Andalusia in 2002. Originally, it consisted of the Muñoz sisters: Lola, Pilar, Lucia, and Rocio. They are the daughters of a well-known flamenco guitarist: Juan Muñoz “El Tomate.” The name of the group is a kind of tribute to him.

In the same year they were founded, they released their debut album called Hijas del Tomate, which was a huge success. This album featured several hits such as Kusha Las Payas, Un De Vez En Cuando, and two of the group's most iconic songs: The Ketchup Song (Aserejé) Spanenglish Version and The Ketchup Song (Asereje) - Spanish Version.

In fact, these songs were so successful that the group has never managed to release a bigger hit than that. The difference in plays between them and other important songs by the group is enormous, as Aserejé has 270 million plays on Spotify and an astonishing 400 million views on YouTube.
