Boom Biddy Bye Bye: Cypress Hill
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Boom Biddy Bye Bye from the legendary hip-hop band Cypress Hill.
I'm using it a lot in my posts to encourage more interaction between the author and the reader. It's a great new feature. Cypress Hill is my favorite group in the history of hip-hop, and I don't say that lightly. I think I've mentioned it several times before, but my relationship with rap goes back to when I was younger and played GTA San Andreas Multiplayer in roleplay. In that mode, I would spend hours doing jobs as a truck driver, and on those trips I would listen to the game's radio stations, which had a little bit of everything. That's when I started paying attention to songs that I wasn't interested in before, and that's also when I became quite addicted to multiplayer.
Over time, it hit me even harder when I saw the documentary Straight Outta Compton and learned about N.W.A. I was very interested in the group's history, their rise to fame, and their subsequent breakup due to disputes among its members. That made me want to keep looking for more old-school artists, and I ended up finding stars like Nas, 2Pac, Biggie, Rakim, Outkast, Wu Tang, and several others.
And in the middle of that journey, I ended up discovering Cypress Hill. I really liked the style of all their songs and especially their amazing instrumentals, one of the things I like most about the genre and why I idolize Dr. Dre. Over the months, I added new songs I found by the group to my favorites, and one of them is the one I ended up selecting for today's post: Boom Biddy Bye Bye.
Cypress Hill is an American hip hop group consisting of successful artists B-Real, Sen Dog, and DJ Muggs. In their early years, they became quite well known with their first album Cypress Hill, released in 2001, but the album that ultimately catapulted them to global success was Black Sunday, released in 2003. This album included songs such as Insane in the Brain, I Wanna Get High, Hits from the Bong, and I Ain't Goin' Out Like That, which remain some of the most memorable songs the group has released throughout its career.
The song Boom Biddy Bye Bye was released in 1996 on the album Cypress Hill III: Temples of Boom and was quite well received. Although it is not one of the group's best-known songs, there is no denying that it is an excellent song that is somewhat overshadowed by the other great songs released by the group.
