C.R.E.A.M (Cash Rules...) - Wu Tang Clan
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is C.R.E.A.M (CASH RULES...) from the iconic band Wu Tang Clan.
On this occasion, I'm going to talk again about one of the genres I'm most passionate about: Hip-Hop. In my early teens, I already had my first notebook, which allowed me to start playing my first multiplayer games, one of which was the legendary SAMP (San Andreas Multiplayer). I used to play with friends in roleplay mode, so each of us played a completely different character. In this case, we had to play an African-American gang member from the United States. To get into character, we used to listen to the music that a person in that situation and from that era would listen to, so I ended up discovering my first artists, such as Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, and Wiz Khalifa.
Up until that point, I had developed a slight fondness for the genre, but I hadn't immersed myself in it at all. It wasn't until I was bored watching Netflix and came across a documentary called Straight Outta Compton. This film was about the history of one of the most legendary groups in the genre, where I identified several legends such as Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and finally Eazy-E as part of this group.
Now that I had begun to immerse myself completely in the genre, I started looking for new artists to listen to: Nas, Eric B, Rakim, Ludacris, Outkast, Eazy-E, 50 Cent, and many more. But I had also discovered some groups that would blow my mind, such as Cypress Hill (my favorite), A Tribe Called Quest, and the one I have selected for today: Wu Tang Clan. From the latter, I can highlight a song that I really like, C.R.E.A.M (Cash Rules). I learned that several legends such as Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and finally Eazy-E were part of this group.
Wu Tang Clan is one of the most important hip-hop groups on the East Coast. They emerged in New York in the early 1990s with the idea of forming a group of rappers with different styles and creating a common identity. Its main members were: RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and Ol' Dirty Bastard.
In 1993, they released their first album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), which was a huge commercial success. This album included several of the group's hits, such as Bring Da Ruckus, Shame On A Nigga, Wu Tang Clan Ain't Nuthing ta F' Wit, Method Man, Protect Ya Neck, and finally the one I have chosen for my post today: C.R.E.AM (Cash Rules).
