Good evening everyone!
In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is California Dreamin' from the iconic band The Mamas & The Papas
Historias: Las Pastillas del Abuelo
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Historias from the argentine band Las Pastillas del Abuelo.
My story with today's band began about a decade ago, when I was in my early teens. My parents never lived together as far as I can remember, so I would alternate between their houses every week. On weekends, I would usually visit my dad and spend time with his new family.
Luckily, I forged a very good relationship with my stepbrother, with whom I spent my time playing video games and ball. Usually, when we played in the afternoons, his cousin would come to visit us. I also got along quite well with him, even though they were both three years older than me.
I remember that when we went to visit him, he was always listening to a national rock band that caught my attention. I asked him about that band at some point, and he told me that it was one of the few active Argentine rock bands and that it had an excellent repertoire of songs. That's how I ended up discovering one of my first favorite rock bands: Las Pastillas del Abuelo.
On top of that, a few months later, a music platform called Spotify took off, giving me easier access to all their songs. I no longer needed to search for each song on YouTube. The truth is that that's where I ended up discovering most of their songs and became a total fan.
Currently, they are my favorite active Argentine rock band, along with Ciro y los Persas. They have a high-quality musical repertoire, and I have more than fifty of their songs in my “Likes” list, which is amazing, since I don't usually go over 5 or 10 with other artists.
The song I have chosen for today is part of my favorite debut album by the band Las Pastillas del Abuelo, released in 2006. This album has some really good songs, among which I would highlight Tantas Escaleras, Candombé de Resacas, Enano, Por Colectora, Amar y Envejecer, Otra Vuelta de Tuerca, Viejo, Desde La Postura, and my choice for today: Las Historias.
This album was the band's first release and was a huge success nationwide. All the songs have millions of views on YouTube and even more on Spotify. This allowed the group to gain a loyal fan base and make a name for themselves in the Argentine music scene, within a genre that was perhaps not at its peak, as it was not as successful and was losing ground to other emerging genres.
