In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is El salto de sofia of the argentine indie band Valentin y los Volcanes.
I Love Rock'N Roll: Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is I Love Rock'N Roll from the band called Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.
It is important to remember how much video games can influence players, teaching them about music, history, art, and many other things through the gaming experience. Thanks to video games, I have learned a lot about history, the culture of various countries, and geography, and I have also discovered music that I would never have listened to if it weren't for their influence.
An example of this is that I would never have stopped to listen to jazz or more classical music if it weren't for the Fallout series. Thanks to it, I have discovered several artists such as Frank Sinatra. Not to mention country music, if I had never tuned in to the K-Rose station in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, I would never have heard artists such as Chuck Berry, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Eddie Rabbitt, and Juice Newton.
But there is one genre that I listen to the most, and I owe much of my passion for it to video games: rock ‘n’ roll. I've always said that my mother influenced me in terms of Spanish rock during my childhood, but what really started to connect with me and catch my attention was when my mother bought me a game that was all the rage on PlayStation 2 because of its playability: Guitar Hero III.
When I played it for the first time, it was a whole new world for me, as I had never experienced anything like it before. The truth is that I was listening to really good songs that were completely unfamiliar to me at the time, which really caught my attention. Just the classic Slow Ride by Foghat, which you had to play in the game's intro, was enough to drive you crazy, along with other songs from the beginning like Barracuda, Give Me Your Best Shot, and Paint It Black.
Thanks to the Guitar Hero series, I discovered a song that I ended up loving and that I have selected as my choice for today: “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. I don't remember which installment of the series I got it from, as I haven't been able to find much information when researching, but I found it on a Spotify playlist and I'm pretty sure I ended up getting it from the game.
