I'm a Player: Too $hort - My musical choice of the day and Rising Star Statistics

Good evening everyone!

In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.

Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Last Train to London from the british band Electric Light Orchestra.

I'm a Player: Too $hort

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is I'm a Player from the american artist Too $Hort.

After taking a two-day break from posting, today I'm back with much more content about music. This time, I'm going to return to one of the genres I'm most passionate about in all of music: Hip-Hop/Gangsta Rap from the 70s to the 00s.

Whenever I cover these genres, I usually feature well-known artists such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, 50 Cent, Eminem, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., and other artists such as Eric B, Rakim, and Mc Eith, who are also recognized in the genre. But this time, I wanted to change things up a bit and go for an artist who is one of those typical ones who have a big hit with one of their albums but fail to maintain success throughout their career.

I'm talking about a song I discovered the other day thanks to Spotify's tool, which recommends songs based on the content of a playlist. Considering that I had more than a hundred rap songs, it's logical that I ended up with this song as a recommendation: I'm a Player by Too $short. In my case, I didn't know the artist's name, but I had heard this song a few times, which in my opinion is the artist's best.

Too $hort is a fairly important artist on the West Coast hip-hop scene in the United States. He began his musical career after moving to Oakland, where he started selling affordable homemade tapes of his music. His music spread throughout the neighborhood, earning him local recognition despite not having the support of any major record label.

In 1987, he released his first solo album, titled Born To Mack. This album was a huge success because he signed with a major record label to release it, which helped it gain significant exposure.

However, it was not his first album that brought him significant national recognition, but rather his second, released shortly thereafter and titled Life Is... Too $hort. This album featured great songs such as “Don't Fight The Feelin,” “Life Is... Too $hort,” and “I Ain't Trippin.”

I'm Player was released in 1993 for one of the most successful albums of his career: Get In Where You Fit In. It was the album's title track and one of the factors that contributed to its international success. In addition to that song, the album also featured other hits such as Just Another Day, Blowjob Betty, and Way Too Real.
