In the air tonight: Phil Collins - My musical choice of the day and Rising Star Statistics

In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.

Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Soldier's Eyes from the british artist Jack Savoretti

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is In The Air Tonight from the iconic artist Phil Collins.

The other day, I was using one of the most valuable tools offered by a platform as famous as Spotify, which has been perfected over the years. The tool accesses the user's playlists, analyzing song by song to detect which songs might be a good fit to add to the list.

The truth is that this feature rarely makes mistakes and recommends anything; rather, it is quite accurate when recommending a song. Thanks to this, I have recently been able to discover more than fifty songs that I would never have listened to if it weren't for this tool.

About two weeks ago, I was looking through one of my favorite playlists, which has quite a few songs from the 70s to the 90s, with a few exceptions. One of the first recommendations I received was the song I have chosen as my pick for today: “In the Air Tonight” by British artist Phil Collins.

To be honest, I didn't know the artist by name, even though he seems to be quite famous, since not everyone has 25 million views. What I did know was the song, having heard it a couple of times on a radio station or something similar. The truth is that I love the slow rhythm of the song until the moment it explodes.

Phil Collins is a British artist who became one of the most important pop and rock musicians in his country. He achieved his first successes as part of the band Genesis in the 70s and 80s. This gave him a good foundation to start his solo career years later, where he had many hits such as In The Air Tonight, Against All Odds, and Another Day in Paradise (Oscar winner).

In The Air Tonight is a song released in 1981 as part of Phil Collins' debut solo album, Face Value. The song was written shortly after his divorce in 1980 and reflects the difficult period he was going through in his life at that time. Currently, it is the artist's most-played song, with 900 million plays on Spotify and an impressive 300 million views on YouTube.
