In The City: Charly Garcia & Sting (The Police) - My musical choice of the day and Rising Star Statistics

In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.

Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Interpretación from the argentine rock band Las Pastillas del Abuelo.

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is In The City: Charly Garcia & Sting (The Police)

The other day I was a little bored, so I decided to open YouTube to watch some interesting videos from the YouTubers I usually follow. But when I opened the home screen, I was pleasantly surprised: my favorite artist, Charly Garcia, had released a new song with an internationally renowned artist, Sting from The Police.

I didn't have high expectations for Charly Garcia's song. The truth is that about a year ago, he released another album after a long hiatus, which had some good songs with excellent instrumentation but perhaps didn't quite match up with Charly's current voice. If he couldn't sing perfectly in Spanish, how would he fare singing in English?

In The City has excellent instrumentation accompanied this time by a better performance from Charly Garcia. The main protagonist of the song is Charly, while Sting appears in some fragments to participate in certain passages of the song. It's a song that I've ended up liking quite a bit and that I've listened to quite often in recent days, so it was no exception to add it to my “Likes” list.

For my part, I am glad that a figure like Charly Garcia can continue to enjoy making music despite his age. Since childhood, I have been strongly influenced musically by my mother, and a few years ago, when I rediscovered his repertoire, I became a huge fan. In my opinion, he is the most important artist our country has ever produced, and he proves it once again by collaborating with a prestigious artist like Sting.

According to my research a few days ago, both artists met after Sting and Charly Garcia participated in an international human rights tour based in Argentina. Some sources say that Sting defended Charly after he had an argument with another artist on the tour, and from that moment on, they began to have a good relationship.

In January of this year, Sting organized a concert at the Movistar Arena in Argentina, where he invited his old friend Charly Garcia. Backstage, with the insistence of his own guitarist Dominic Miller (of British-Argentine origin), they managed to convince Sting to collaborate with Charly Garcia.

In The City had already been recorded for another Charly Garcia album called Kill Gil, but after the album's release was delayed due to bureaucratic issues, the song passed without much fanfare. So Charly thought about performing this song again with the help of an artist like Sting. I've had the opportunity to listen to both the old and new versions, and I much prefer the latter, as several parts of the song have been improved and Sting's participation gives it a special touch.
