In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Checkmate from the american band Cypress Hill.
Locked Out of Heaven: Bruno Mars
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Locked Out of Heaven from the legendary artist Bruno Mars.
The first time I heard Locked Out of Heaven was when my friends and I were bored, not really knowing what to do, and someone suggested organizing a music competition. The idea was pretty simple: we put together a Spotify playlist mixing music of any genre from each of us, and we would have the opportunity to rate who had the best music.
As often happens, what seemed like it would take a few hours ended up lasting all night. Several of us were connected on Discord, commenting on each song, discussing whether a song deserved more or fewer points, and writing everything down on a spreadsheet. In between, there were songs that were very different from each other, some that I already knew, others that I didn't know so well, and some that I didn't like at all (mainly K-Pop). That's when Locked Out of Heaven came on, and it really stood out from everything else.
I had known Bruno Mars for a long time, so it wasn't a total discovery. I was quite familiar with him from some collaborations, especially some of his famous songs and his collaboration with Snoop Dogg on Young Wild and Free.
Bruno Mars is a well-known American artist who has been pursuing a career in music since he was very young. Before starting his solo career, he worked as a producer and songwriter for other artists, which allowed him to gain some experience in the industry and make some contacts that would serve him well in the future.
His first album was released in 2010 and was titled Doo-Wops & Hooligan. It included several hits such as Grenade, Just The Way You Are, The Lazy Song, Count On Me, and one that recently went viral thanks to social media: Talking to the Moon. This album was a worldwide success and positioned him as one of the most important artists on the scene.
The song I have selected for today's post is part of the artist's second album, Unorthodox Jukebox, which was released in 2012. This album was a huge success, despite not having the same impact as his first album, it still features great songs such as Young Girls, Treasure, If I Knew, Natalie, When I Was Your Man, and my choice for today: Locked Out of Heaven.
