Mentirosa: Rafaga - My musical choice of the day and Rising Star Statistics

In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.

Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Interpretación from the argentine rock band Las Pastillas del Abuelo.

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Mentirosa of the argentine cumbia band Rafaga.

The other day, I was reviewing all my playlists on Spotify when I noticed that I had a short one that I never listened to, with a mix of cumbia and cuarteto. So, I decided to take advantage of one of Spotify's most useful tools: song recommendations in a playlist.

The first songs that came up were pretty good, and most of them brought back fond memories of my childhood when I used to listen to them from time to time, but what caught my attention the most were the songs by a group called Rafaga. Two of their most famous songs caught my attention, Mentirosa and Una Cerveza, which I remembered hearing at numerous parties I had attended throughout my life.

As many of you know, I am not a fan of current music or the street music that is popular now, such as RKT. However, despite being street music, cumbia has always caught my attention, as this genre still highlights the creativity of an artist, their voice, and the instruments to create a great song, unlike today where genres such as RKT use the same base for the instruments and don't have much coherent to say.

Rafaga is an Argentine band founded in Buenos Aires in 1994, with about ten members. The most notable members of the group were: vocalist Ariel Puchetta, guitarist Raul Rosales, bassist Juan Carlos Fusco, Marccelo Rodriguez, drummer Omar Morel, Ulises Piñeyro, and Mauricio Juarez.

After the band was founded, it took two years for them to release their first album, titled Soplando Fuerte. This album had some hits that gave the band a bit of local recognition, such as Pensando En Ti and Llamame.

After gaining a fan base, they released their most successful album to date: Imparables (1999). It featured many hits such as La Luna y Tú, Explicame, Mentirosa, Baila Para Mi, and Maldito Corazón, positioning the band as one of the most important in its genre. Their success was enough to take them on tours throughout Argentina, Chile, Spain, and other South American countries.
