In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Smooth Criminal from the legendary artist Michael Jackson
Regulate: Warren G, Nate Dogg
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Regulate from the american artist Warren G and Nate Dogg.
The other day, I was looking for songs to share from all the ones I've accumulated in my Spotify “likes.” Currently, I have more than 1,500 songs in my Spotify “likes,” where I've accumulated an endless amount of all kinds of musical genres. Even so, I always have a hard time deciding which song to share in each post, mainly because with some of them I don't have much to tell you about them.
So I took advantage of one of the features added a few years ago by Spotify, which allows you to get song recommendations based on the songs you have in a playlist. I opened one of my playlists where I have old-school hip-hop with various artists such as Nas, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Ice Cube, DMX, Eric B & Rakim, and ended up getting a good recommendation: Regulate by Warren G.
I had used the tool a few years ago, but it didn't give me any results, so it seems that with the rise of artificial intelligence, they ended up making improvements to the system and providing a better experience for each user. In all the playlists I've used it on, every 5-10 songs, I've ended up finding one that caught my attention enough to add it.
Before getting the recommendation from Spotify, I had already listened to some Warren G songs, including Regulate. I don't know why I hadn't added this song before, because it really ranks among the top 50-100 songs I've heard in the hip-hop genre.
Warren Griffin, better known by his stage name Warren G, is an American artist from the West Coast (California). During his youth, Warren was fascinated by the jazz and soul music his family listened to, so he knew he wanted to pursue a career in music.
To start his musical career, he formed the group 213 with artists who are now well known, such as Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg. Although they did not release any albums, it helped Warren G to establish himself in the music industry. Another important factor in his easy adaptation to the music industry was the constant support of his stepbrother, Dr. Dre.
In 1994, he released his first solo album, Regulate... G Funk Era, which featured several hits that positioned him as one of the most important artists of the moment. The album's title track, “Regulate,” caught everyone's attention, reaching high positions on the music charts after its release. It currently boasts impressive figures on Spotify, with 600 million plays, and 400 million on YouTube.
