Rising Star - I choose one song per day, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Express Yourself: N.W.A

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

After I finished going through the hundred songs provided by Spotify that I listened to the most in the last year, I have thought of adding songs of my choice from my "Like" list that has more than 1000 songs. It's no news that I tend to be quite a fan of old school hip-hop. I've brought up numerous artists like Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, Nas, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G and bands like Cypress Hill and Wu Tang Clan. I was influenced in my teenage years, when a group of friends with whom I played Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, had shown me some Snoop Dogg songs.

I loved Snoop Dogg's songs, even though at the time I didn't understand anything of what they were saying. I loved the rhythm of the song, making his song Still with a Dr. Dre my favorite.

About four years ago I was bored browsing the Netflix menu. Until I saw a title that caught my attention “Explicit Lyrics”. Up until that point, I had always listened to a bit of Rap and wanted to know more history about that group. I came across a very good movie that tells the story of the formation of the group N.W.A, their problems with the police, with their manager and how certain disputes led to the hip-hop band splitting up.

The most surprising thing was to discover that the members of the band were artists I already knew, such as Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy-E. I couldn't believe that such legendary figures had been part of the same group and had also grown together in their musical careers. After exploring all of the group's songs, I became a fan of one of the producers of their music: that guy called

N.W.A (Niggaz With Attitude) is a gangsta rap group formed in California in 1986. It was formed by Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dj Yella, Mc Ren and Dr. Dre. It was one of the pioneering groups of the gangsta rap of the West Coast, marking an era.

Express Yourself is a song that was released in 1988. It is based entirely on a song by the artist Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, which was released in the year 1970. In N.W.A they sampled the song giving it a more gangsta rap touch.

The new format will be similar to the one we used some time ago, using the Hive Tools application.
