Rising Star - My Daily song choice, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Always Wanting You: Merle Haggard

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

Starting in May, I started to create a playlist to keep track of the last songs I commented on in my posts. It will be useful for me not to doubt if I had already talked about a song before or not. The last song is Sh Boom of the american group The Chords.

The case of today's song, is another example that video games have to influence older music to new generations of young people. Many games have made me know hits from the 50-60-70's like the Fallout saga, but there is also another game that has a lot of good music from that time.

The game I'm talking about is Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, which contains a fairly extensive soundtrack that is divided into several radio stations. Each radio station has its own genre and is tuned depending on the area you are in. If you are in a poor neighborhood, you used to tune into one of the radio stations with Hip-Hop music, while if you were in the rural area, you would tune into country music.

K-Rose is my favorite station in the game and it's the one with all the country music. I can assure you that all the songs that are part of this radio station, are absolutely insane. On my Spotify playlist I have ALL the songs in my “Likes”. One of the songs I like the most is Always Wanting You by Merle Haggard.

Merle Haggard is one of the most important country music artists in the United States. Haggard's childhood was quite difficult, he had many behavioral problems which led him to be in reformatories and prison. His life changed when he heard the artist Johny Cash, which led him to change his life and dedicate himself completely to music.

Merle began his career in the 60's and 70's, where he had several hits with Mama Tried and Sing Me Back Home. The song Always Wating You was released in 1975 for the album Keep Movin On, song that was also part of the soundtrack of the legendary video game Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, which allowed a younger audience to know the works of Haggard.
