Rising Star - My Daily song choice, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Aún Estas en Mis Sueños: Rata Blanca

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

Starting in May, I started to create a playlist to keep track of the last songs I commented on in my posts. It will be useful for me not to doubt if I had already talked about a song before or not. The last song is This is Not America of Residente and Ibeyi.

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Aún Estas en Mis Sueños of the argentine band Rata Blanca.

For today I wanted to bring a very well known band from Argentina. The particularity of this band is that it is one of the few successful bands that tried to make Metal in the country. Metal in Argentina never had the massiveness nor the popular impact that other genres such as National Rock or Pop did. But there is a band that did achieve massive success, not only in Argentina, but in all Latin America: Rata Blanca.

My experience with the band started about three or four years ago, when I was in a friend's car and he started to play songs from his playlist. One of the songs he had played was called La Leyenda del Hada y el Mago, a song I had heard a few times and I liked it, but I had no idea who it was. My friend told me it was by an Argentine rock band called Rata Blanca, so I took a look at the band's discography.

That's how I found my favorite song of the band and the best known of the group: Mujer Amante. But I also found other good songs like Aun Estas en Mis Sueños and Talisman.

Rata Blanca is the most important heavy metal band in Argentina and Latin America. It was formed in 1985 by Walter Giardini, Adrian Balrilari, Guillermo Sanchez, Hugo Bistolfi, Sergio Berdichevsky and Gustavo Rowek.

The band emerged at a time when Heavy Metal was not so popular or massively accepted, at that time groups like Soda Stereo, Seru Giran, among others, were in fashion. Their first album was released in 1988, had a moderate success and included songs such as El Sueño de la Gitana and Solo Para Amarte. However, it was not until their second album “Magos, espadas y rosas” that they achieved national success with songs such as La Leyenda del Hada y el Mago and Mujer Amante.
