Rising Star - My Daily song choice, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Family Affair: Mary J Blige.

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

Starting in May, I started to create a playlist to keep track of the last songs I commented on in my posts. It will be useful for me not to doubt if I had already talked about a song before or not. The last song is Three Cigarettes in an Ashtray of the american artist Patsy Cline.

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Family Affair of the american artist Mary J. Blige.

A few years ago, I have seen a movie/documentary about a famous band from the West Coast of the United States: N.W.A (Niggas With Attitudes). After watching that documentary, I became more interested in Dr. Dre's career.

When I first heard the albums The Chronic and 2001, Dr. Dre became my favorite artist in the Hip-Hop genre. At the time, I was aimlessly surfing YouTube, bored, until I stumbled upon the famous Super Bowl halftime show. What made that show special was that it was titled “Dr. Dre Day” and featured artists like Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar, all of whom were formed under the influence of Dr. Dre.

Among all those successful artists, I forgot to mention one: Mary J Blige. She performed two of her most famous songs on the show, and I was blown away by her powerful voice. That's when I started researching more about her on Spotify and came across songs like Family Affair, Be Without You and Mary Jane (All Night Long). My two favorite songs of hers are Family Affair and a collaboration she did with Dr. Dre for the song “The Message”.

Mary J Blige is one of the most influential female R&B artists, with numerous hits in her musical repertoire. In 1989, a recording of her singing came into the hands of the controversial Diddy, who helped her launch her professional career.

In 1992, she debuted with the album What's the 411?, which included hits such as "Reminisce", "Real Love" and "Sweet Thing", which catapulted her to fame. However, she achieved even greater recognition in 2001 with the release of No More Drama. This album includes her most iconic song, "Family Affair", which accumulates more than 670 million plays on Spotify and 800 million on YouTube.
