In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.
Starting in May, I started to create a playlist to keep track of the last songs I commented on in my posts. It will be useful for me not to doubt if I had already talked about a song before or not. The last song is Mother of the heavy-metal group Danzig.
La Grasa de las Capitales: Seru Giran
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is La Grasa de las Capitales of the legendary argentine band Seru Giran.
Since my childhood, I have always had a very strong influence from my mother with music. The boom of Argentine rock coincided with her youth, so there was never a single Argentine National Rock song missing. I remember listening several times to songs by Los Abuelos de la Nada, Virus and Sui Generis. However, even though I liked the songs, they had not caught my attention at that time.
My first real contact with the genre, was only in my teens when a very innovative platform, Spotify, was launched. I remember that when I downloaded it for the first time, it recommended me several playlists of Argentine rock songs, that's how I discovered groups like Attaque 77, Intoxicados, Los Piojos, mostly all groups from the late 90s and early 2000s.
About four years ago, I listened to songs by the band Los Abuelos de la Nada, which had many songs that I loved. At that time, I set out to explore more songs of the genre and came across my favorite artist of all time: Charly Garcia. Charly Garcia for a few years was part of a band called Sui Generis where he released several hits, among my favorites: La Grasa de las Capitales.
Seru Giran was one of the most important bands in Argentine rock. It was founded in 1978 by artists who were quite well-known at the time: pianist and vocalist Charly García, guitarist David Lebón, bassist Pedro Aznar, and drummer Oscar Moro.
Their first album, "Seru Giran," was released in 1978 and was widely criticized for its musical style. Without giving up, the group decided to continue trying with their second album, released a year later. La Grasa de las Capitales (The Grain of the Capitals), Perro Andaluz (Andalusian Dog), and Viernes 3 AM (Friday 3 AM), resulting in the band's most famous album.
