In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.
Starting in May, I started to create a playlist to keep track of the last songs I commented on in my posts. It will be useful for me not to doubt if I had already talked about a song before or not. The last song is N.Y STATE OF MIND of the american artist Nas.
Microphone Fiend: Eric B & Rakim
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Microphone Fiend of the artists Eric B & Rakim.
Since a few years ago, I became quite a follower of Hip-Hop and I spent hours listening to various artists of the genre. One day I was talking to a friend with whom I used to play Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Online and he started recommending me several pioneer artists of the genre, among them he mentioned two that I really liked: Eric B and Rakim.
The first songs I heard from the duo were Paid In Full and I Ain't No Joke. I really loved both of them, which led me to investigate more of the artists' musical repertoire, coming up with my favorite: Microphone Fiend.
I was really surprised by the level of rapping that this duo has. Rakim has a way of rhyming that, even today, sounds modern and technical, with a flow that was way ahead of its time. I realized that they were truly pioneers of Hip-Hop as we know it today.
Eric B. & Rakim was one of the most influential duos in the history of Hip-Hop. Eric B. was in charge of production and turntables, while Rakim, considered one of the greatest rappers of all time, was the group's MC.
In 1987 they released their debut album, Paid in Full, which became a resounding success. This work marked a before and after in the genre, including iconic tracks such as Paid in Full, I Ain't No Joke and Eric B. Is President.
Microphone Fiend was released in 1988 and is part of the group's second album Follow the Leader. It has 14 million plays on Spotify and another 14 million on the YouTube platform.

The new format will be similar to the one we used some time ago, using the Hive Tools application. However, the application didn't always work, so this time we will be using a Discord bot that is in charge of returning a winner from among all the comments on a Hive post.
