In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.
Starting in May, I started to create a playlist to keep track of the last songs I commented on in my posts. It will be useful for me not to doubt if I had already talked about a song before or not. The last song is Algo esta cambiando of the mexican artist Julieta Venegas.
Preso en Mi Ciudad: Patricio Rey y los Redonditos de Ricota.
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Preso en Mi Ciudad of the rock group Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota.
In Argentina, at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, rock had a very strong influence on the national music industry. Countless bands emerged that are still remembered today as referents of the genre such as Los Piojos, Rata Blanca, Sumo, Seru Giran, Sui Generis, Los Abuelos de la Nada, Soda Stereo and other iconic groups such as Patricio Rey y los Redonditos de Ricota.
El Indio Solari, leader of the mythical band Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota, is one of the most beloved artists of national music. Although I am not as fanatical about him as most people, I recognize that he has some very good songs. However, I still don't put him on the same level as Spinetta, Charly García or Gustavo Cerati.
My first experience with the band was when I heard one of their most iconic songs: “Ji Ji Ji Ji”. This song became very famous, as it was the anthem of the biggest pogo in the world, where thousands of people jumped and moved to the rhythm of the music in a historic Indio Solari's concert. That led me to discover other songs like Un poco de Amor Francés and Un Angel Para Tu Soledad that caught my attention but did not make me become a fanatic of him.
Patricio Rey y Sus Redonditos de Ricota or better known as Los Redondos, were one of the most important bands of all the Argentine Rock. They were founded in the city of La Plata in 1976 by the vocalist Indio Solari, the guitarist Skay Beillinson, the bassist Semilla Bucciarelli, the drummer Walter Sidotti and the artist Sergio Dawi.
The band's massive success came after the release of their second album called Oktubre, released in 1986. This album includes the hits Ji Ji Ji Ji and Preso en Mi Ciudad. Preso en Mi Ciudad has 30 million plays on the Spotify platform and 5 million on Youtube.
