Rising Star - My Daily song choice, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Ruta 66: Pappo Blues

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

Starting in May, I started to create a playlist to keep track of the last songs I commented on in my posts. It will be useful for me not to doubt if I had already talked about a song before or not. The last song is Crimen of the argentine artist Gustavo Cerati

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Ruta 66 of the artist Pappo Blues.

In my early years of life, I have spent my time listening to Argentine national rock artists thanks to my mother's influence. Thanks to her I have known bands like Virus, Rata Blanca, Los Abuelos de la Nada, Siu Generis and Seru Girán, as well as artists like Charly Garcia, Miguel Abuelo, Andres Calamaro, Fito Paez, among others.

My first experience with the blues genre was with an Argentine band called Memphis La Blusera that has very good songs like La Última Lagrima, La Flor Mas Bella and La Bifurcada. Later on, I got to know several American blues artists such as B.B. King and Robert Johnson.

After listening to some of these artists' songs, I discovered a legendary Argentine musician: Norberto “Pappo” Napolitano. When I listened to some of his songs, they sounded familiar, as if I had already heard them at some point in my life. It is probably because he has very popular songs, such as “Mi vieja”, ‘Desconfío’ and “Sucio y desprolijo”.

One of my favorite Pappo songs is Ruta 66, a Spanish version of the iconic American song that talks about one of the most emblematic and traveled routes in the United States: the famous Route 66.

Pappo was an Argentine guitarist and singer, known for being one of the pioneers of blues in Spanish. He started playing in the 50's due to a strong influence of blues and rock and roll, where he participated in famous groups such as Los Abuelos de la Nada and Los Gatos.

In the 1970s, Pappo founded his first band, Pappo's Blues, which became a national hit. The song “Ruta 66” was released in 1995 as part of the album Pappo's Blues Volumen 8: Caso Cerrado. In this album, Pappo pays tribute to international rock classics, imprinting them with his distinctive Argentine style.
