Rising Star - My Daily song choice, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Talking To My Diary: Dr. Dre

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

Starting in May, I started to create a playlist to keep track of the last songs I commented on in my posts. It will be useful for me not to doubt if I had already talked about a song before or not. The last song is Scandalous of the group Mis-Teeq

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Talkingto My Diary of the legendary hip-hop artist Dr. Dre.

Hip-Hop started to interest me since I was a teenager, when some friends with whom I played Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Multiplayer had recommended me some songs of the genre, mainly from the famous Old-School. That's how I discovered my first artists like Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Wiz Khalifa.

For a while, I didn't give it much importance except to listen to it once in a while. But everything changed, one afternoon when I watched a documentary about a hip-hop band called N.W.A. In this documentary, they told the story of the rise and fall of the group, discovering that artists I already knew like Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E were part of the same band and that they have even banged quite a few songs with each other.

I'm not that big a fan of Hip-Hop lyrics, since in many cases they make an apology to crime and tend to have a rather macho approach. However, I can't deny that there are artists with an impressive talent for rapping. What really attracts me to the genre are the instrumentals, especially in the Old School, where each song had a unique and very worked base. My favorite artist within the genre is Dr. Dre, precisely because he has an impressive musical repertoire: each of his songs is highlighted by an original instrumental that adds a unique and special touch to the work.

About a year ago, I was pretty excited that Dr. Dre was releasing a new album after a long time, and I was very curious to see what he was going to surprise with. While the album isn't the best of his career, I did manage to salvage a few good songs. My favorite, without a doubt, is Talking to My Diary, a very intimate song where he practically reviews his whole life.
