Soy Sabalero: Los Palmeras - My musical choice of the day and Rising Star Statistics

Hello, everyone! Today I will be continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.

Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me keep track of the songs I have used so I dont end up repeating them. Soy Sabalero: Los Palmeras

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Soy Sabalero from the argentine band Los Palmeras.

I've known Los Palmeras since I was a kid, as they are one of the most iconic cumbia bands Argentina has had over the years. At home, at birthdays, family gatherings, or any party, there was always a song by the group playing. I remember songs like El Bombón Asesino from my childhood; they are the kind of songs you hear a thousand times....

Although cumbia isn't what I listen to most in my daily life, I can't deny that it's part of my history. In Argentina, it's impossible to escape it; it's always present somewhere. But my choice today isn't so much for a party or a gathering, but for something much more specific.

I'm talking about Soy Sabalero, a song the group released for a soccer team in their region: Club Atlético Colón. The funny thing is that this song exploded nationally when they played it in the 2019 Copa Sudamericana final, where Colón was playing against an Ecuadorian team.

I remember that moment perfectly. Beyond the result of the match, one of the most memorable things was not the game itself, but the opening show. Seeing Los Palmeras playing in an international final and reworking one of their most famous songs to cheer on their team was something unique.

Los Palmeras is an Argentine cumbia band formed in the city of Santa Fe in the early 1970s. With a career spanning four decades, they have become one of the most important bands to come out of Argentina.

Throughout their career, they have released several successful albums with songs such as El Bombón Asesino, Olvidala, and Perra. They are practically the creators of the most traditional songs of this genre in Argentina... Soy Sabalero was released as a song dedicated to Club Atlético Colón and ended up achieving massive recognition when it was performed live at the final of the 2019 Copa Sudamericana. In fact, it was a rendition of another of their most iconic songs: El Parrendedero.
