RE: I Think It Is Time For An Upgrade

in Rant, Complain, Talk6 days ago

Video work was one reason I upgraded, but then the old PC was ancient. I've not done any heavy edits, but I think this one will be much more capable. I don't think Linux will tell you the hardware is too old :)

Memory is really expensive now so I didn't get as much as I might have otherwise.

Sort:

I have 32GB which is more than enough for what I need it for, and I'm delighted I bought it way before this steep price increase.

Today I have been looking up new CPUs, and looked it up and it said that the windows update requires 8th gen or above, so I looked mine up, and it turns out mine is a 9th gen. I have a 6gb graphics card, plenty of ram, and a decent CPU. So I've been trying to figure out why it wont update

So far, one reason is something not being enabled in the bios, so I'll have to have a look at that and see if that sorts it out

I expect there's apps to check these things. I just avoid Windows.

I would like to go with linux, but I'm so used to windows that I'd be afraid to make the switch. I'll have to look into it a bit more before committing to the change

You may be able to dual boot. I used to do that, but just don't use Windows any more at home.
