Saludos, amigos de #HivePets. Hoy queremos poner al tanto sobre una enfermedad que se ha vuelto viral entre los gatitos tanto callejeros como los que viven en los hogares y que no han sido vacunados desde hace algún tiempo.
Greetings, friends of #HivePets. Today, we want to inform you about a disease that has become widespread among kittens, both stray and those living in homes who haven't been vaccinated for some time.
Es una enfermedad altamente mortal y peligrosa que ataca a gatitos de cualquier edad y género. Más aún, si no tienen ningún tipo de vacuna. Se trata de la Panleucopenia Felina. Una enfermedad que si no recibe tratamiento inmediato a quien la padece, se descompensa muy rápido y pierde la batalla.
It is a highly fatal and dangerous disease that affects kittens of any age and gender, especially those that have not been vaccinated. It is called Feline Panleukopenia. If left untreated, the disease deteriorates rapidly, and the kitten will die.
Hemos estado luchando con esta enfermedad por más de dos meses en el que se ha visto afectada una población de aproximadamente 140 gatitos, de los cuales 20 estuvieron hospitalizados en estado crítico, 7 fueron atendidos en la fundación y 10 de ellos han perdido la batalla.
We have been battling this disease for over two months, affecting a population of approximately 140 kittens, of which 20 were hospitalized in critical condition, 7 were treated at the foundation, and 10 of them have lost the battle.
Esta enfermedad ha sido confundida con envenenamientos ya que en ocasiones, presentan muertes súbitas. Como ya les comenté, hemos tenido varias semanas luchando con esta epidemia y hemos escuchado de muchos otros casos a nivel nacional. Actualmente seguimos diagnosticando gatitos con esta enfermedad; parece una lucha interminable.
This disease has been mistaken for poisoning because it sometimes causes sudden death. As I mentioned, we've been battling this epidemic for several weeks now, and we've heard of many other cases nationwide. We're still diagnosing kittens with this disease; it seems like a never-ending fight.

Pedimos a todos que tengan mucho cuidado, sobre todo si viven en Venezuela. También les recomendamos tomar medidas sanitarias para protegerlos como cambiarse los zapatos y ropa al llegar de la calle, desinfectar con cloro, lavarse bien las manos y lo más importante, no dejar salir a sus gatos a la calle.
Los síntomas son: inapetencia, fiebre, vómito, diarrea con o sin sangre. Si tu gatito presenta alguna de estas señales o lo ves decaido, no dudes en llevarlo al veterinario.
We urge everyone to be very careful, especially if you live in Venezuela. We also recommend taking sanitary measures to protect your cats, such as changing your shoes and clothes upon arriving home, disinfecting with bleach, washing your hands thoroughly, and most importantly, keeping your cats indoors.
Symptoms include: loss of appetite, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea with or without blood. If your cat shows any of these signs or seems lethargic, don't hesitate to take them to the veterinarian.
