Saludos, amigos de #HivePets. Estamos de vuelta por aquí para presentarles a Gizma, una hermosa gatita atigrada a quien llevamos años alimentando en la calle. Hoy les cuento la historia de su rescate, ya que en esta ocasión acudió a nosotras por ayuda y no pudimos negarnos a rescatarla.
Greetings, friends of #HivePets. We're back to introduce you to Gizma, a beautiful tabby cat we've been feeding on the streets for years. Today I'm sharing the story of her rescue, as this time she came to us for help and we couldn't refuse.
Gizma es una gatita callejera que teníamos algunas semanas sin verla, hasta que finalmente apareció de nuevo y notamos que estaba caminando con dificultad y presentaba una barriga de embarazo avanzado. Así que su comportamiento nos indicó que estaba a punto de caramelo.
Gizma is a stray cat we hadn't seen for a few weeks, until she finally reappeared and we noticed she was walking with difficulty and had a very prominent baby bump. So her behavior told us she was about to give birth.
Cuando nos encontró no dejaba de apartarse de nosotras, nos seguía y nos maullaba para que la atendiéramos, fue por eso que luego de terminar nuestro trabajo diario en esa cuadra, decidimos llevarla con nosotras para darle la atención que necesitaba.
When she found us, she wouldn't leave our side; she followed us and meowed at us so we would take care of her. That's why, after finishing our daily work on that block, we decided to take her with us to give her the attention she needed.
Y menos mal que nos las llevamos, como lo sospechábamos, ella se calmó y entró en trabajo de parto al día siguiente en nuestra fundación, sin embargo, mientras estuvimos en el área donde la encontramos, notamos que todos los huecos y rendijas que ella tenía abiertos para esconderse habían sido tapados por las personas que viven en el área.
And thank goodness we took them with us, as we suspected. She calmed down and went into labor the next day at our foundation; however, while we were in the area where we found her, we noticed that all the holes and crevices she had open to hide had been covered up by the people who live in the area.
Las gatas cuando están a punto de parir, suelen buscar un lugar oscuro y protegido, como una especie de cueva para poder dar a luz con calma. En el caso de Gizma, los lugares usuales que usaba para hacer esto, estaban obstruidos, así que no hallaba qué hacer hasta que nos encontró y nos miró con esos ojitos hermosos que gritaban la palabra auxilio.
Finalmente, luego de llevarla al refugio y traer al mundo a sus nuevos bebés, nos mira con mucho agradecimiento y sabe que con nosotras estará segura. Ahora nos toca buscarle un hogar a estos pequeñitos y también esterilizarlos para que no vuelvan a parir más gatitos.

When cats are about to give birth, they usually look for a dark, sheltered place, like a den, to give birth in peace. In Gizma's case, the usual places she used for this were blocked, so she didn't know what to do until she found us and looked at us with those beautiful eyes that seemed to cry out for help.
Finally, after taking her to the shelter and bringing her new kittens into the world, she looks at us with immense gratitude and knows that she'll be safe with us. Now we need to find homes for these little ones and also spay or neuter them so they don't have any more kittens.
