How Do You Measure Success?

in Indiaunited3 days ago (edited)

Alot is people attach great importance to various things in life. Some may see attaining the highest level in their career as a watershed while for others, acquiring expensive things and properties as an advancement in life. Be that as it may, one may therefore be tempted to ask: "what is success?"

Thus said, the term success is relative. Each person may have different shades of opinion as to what he or she may call 'success'. From my own point of view however, success may be defined as a positive advancement by a person in whatever field, career and life struggles which one finds himself. The attainment of an aim and purpose in life ventures will also constitute 'a success '.

Take for instance a scientist who has been experimenting with the idea of producing something germane. Any day he finally invents that thing he will term his experimentation as a success.

Again, how about a student who has been reading for an exam, any day he writes the exam and the results released and he comes out in flying colours he will see it that the exam is successful.

Furthermore, where a person acquires luxurious things in life he may tend to believe that his life is successful while another fellow may not necessarily see those as success but vanities of life.

All in all, a negative approach to things or to a cause of things which leads to positive results may also be seen as success. For instance, in warfare involving two countries, country A employ starvation as a weapon of war thereby neutralising her opponent, that is country B by mounting border blockade (sea, air and land) and not allowing any food, arms or medical supplies to country B thereby weakening her opponent and cowing them to submission and surrendering. The aggressor country may see this negative war tactics as a success.

Having said this, I still think that the term "success" is relative, subjective; and it depends on an individual's perspective.

That's all for now. This is my submission to the @indiaunited weekly prompt: Theme: How do you Define Success?. Check the details via the LINK

It's very subjective!

And, one's success could be another's defeat, as in a war!

Thanks for talking about an interesting topic!

Yes, thanks too

I agree that the term "success" is very subjective and relative to the individual and situation it is being applied. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks too for stopping by. I appreciate.

Success to me is never giving up, never giving in, and continuing forward, no matter what. Most superficial things that many people consider evidence of success are meaningless to me. I don't care about houses, cars, or a huge salary, but rather whether my inner-felt potential, my deepest desires and dreams, and my life, are in alignment with each other. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Yeah, that spirit of never giving up will surely lead to a positive advancement. Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate.

Indeed, and I've seen and experienced it many times. Sure thing, you're most welcome, my friend. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I love your definition of success.
It is an interesting one.

Yeah, thank you very much for stopping by

You're welcome

I think this is one of the best defininiton of success

Wow thanks for your kind words. I appreciate.

I still think that the term "success" is relative, subjective; and it depends on an individual's perspective.

I agree with you it also depends on the end goal, the successful peak will always be at a different spot depending on certain factors and maybe even multiple.

Success has layers, levels and milestones

Have the best weekend
