Motivation - How Do You Get It?

Have you ever lost the will-power to continue with a given task? Or the zeal to accomplish a set of goals? Well, due to the pressures of life and the society we find ourselves one may experience these things at some point in time in his or her lifetime. For instance, as a student, a worker or even a parent, sometimes we lose interest or overwhelmed by tasks given to us. When such happens the individual needs motivation to move on.

Now when such happens, what do you do to motivate yourself? Do you just throw in the towel and abandon the task? Or just stick to it and do whatever it takes to come to an end of it?

Well, alot of strategies can be adopted to get motivated. Personally, I have applied these strategies whenever I need motivation and I'll share them with us.

Firstly, when I need motivation I usually take a break from whatever I am doing to refresh myself. You know some tasks can be energy sapping. So I take a break to refresh. While refreshing, I usually play some soft tunes and other favourite songs of mind to keep me going and build momentum. That way motivation comes.

Again, I may also decide to go to bed and rest, not necessarily sleeping or taking a nap. Just lay on the bed with eyes closed and then rest. That way, I relax and rest both my body, soul and the brain. This exercise can last for a minimum of forty five minutes. Whenever I rise up from the rest, I usually notice that I have gathered enough momentum to drive on with my routine or activity. That energetic feeling to accomplish the task will just be there.

Finally, when I want to refresh and gather momentum I also do some light walks within and around my neighbourhood. Sometimes you need to leave your immediate vicinity to walk around and see the beauty outside and then be motivated. The vehicular movement, people walking up and down and going about their regular business, beautiful lawns, houses and flowers will definitely give you that sense of motivation.

Finally, when all these things do not work out I usually visit my mentor who will counsel me both spiritually and otherwise. That way too I get motivated.
