Your Twenties Are Not Supposed to Make Sense and Nobody Tells You That

I remember turning twenty five and doing quiet mental math about where i was supposed to be by then. Career figured out. Relationship settled. Some version of stability i had been promised would arrive if i just kept showing up and trying.
It had not arrived. And everyone around me, at least on the surface, looked like it had arrived for them already.

Social media made it worse. Everyone's highlight reel suggested people my age had assembled lives with quiet confidence, while mine still felt like a rough draft nobody had signed off on yet. I compared my unfinished chapters to other people's edited ones constantly, and it never once made me feel better or made my own life move any faster.
Took years to find out almost everyone i knew was privately running the exact same comparison against their own invisible deadline.

Nobody tells you that your twenties are not meant to be a finished product. They are the stretch where you separate who you actually are from who your family expected, who your environment shaped, who you performed as just to survive growing up. That separation is messy by design. Wrong turns. Jobs that fall apart. Relationships that teach you something valuable by ending badly.

The people who look like they have it figured out early are often just better at performing certainty, not necessarily further along in actually having any.
What eventually helped was accepting that the confusion was not a sign i was behind schedule. It was the process working exactly as it should. Figuring life out without a manual was never going to feel smooth, especially the first real attempt at doing it on your own terms.

If your twenties feel uncertain and unfinished right now, that does not mean something is wrong with you or your timeline.
It might just mean you are exactly where this stretch of life is supposed to leave you for now.
