Funds, Me, and Unexpected Circumstances(Emergencies)

Good day Friends,
Glad to usher you into a new week and more excited to participate in this week's contest hosted by @indiaunited.

When it comes to money, one thing I’ve learnt the hard way is that emergencies don’t send a message before they show up. They just appear out of nowhere and put you under pressure. That’s exactly why I started building my emergency fund, even if it’s with something as small as 200 naira. I won’t even lie, it’s not every day I save, but whenever I get the chance, I drop something. It might look small, but it grows, and that tiny habit has helped me in ways I didn’t expect.

I bought this phone with my emergency saving funds

Most times, I make use of Palmpay, Opay or Moniepoint for my target savings because it makes everything easier. Once I lock the money there, I just forget about it. And honestly, that little discipline has saved me so many times. There were days when something came up suddenly stuffs like transport wahala, airtime issues, small bills I didn’t plan for and it was the money I kept aside that rescued me. That feeling of knowing you can handle something without begging anyone is actually one of the best feelings ever.

The truth is, emergencies are inevitable. Something must happen at one point or another, whether it’s health, school, family or even just daily life stress. That’s why I’m trying my best to make my emergency fund something consistent. My plan is to keep saving small amounts regularly, no matter how tight things get. Even if it’s 200 naira today, 500 tomorrow, or nothing on some days, the important thing is that I don’t give up on the habit, at the end of the month you discover you've saved a lot without even realizing.

One interesting thing I realized is that savings don’t only help during emergencies, they also give you confidence. You walk around knowing you’re not completely stranded. It also helps me reduce spending money in unnecessary things/miscellaneous. Research even shows that people who save, even in small amounts, tend to feel more in control of their lives. And that makes sense, because money may not solve all problems, but it definitely reduces unnecessary stress.

I also got this with my emergency funds

My emergency fund plan is simple: save what I can, be consistent, use trusted platforms, and remind myself that my future self will thank me. Because at the end of the day, little drops truly make a mighty ocean, and those drops might be the exact thing that saves me when life throws a surprise.

This is my plan during Emergencies, thank you for reading.
