Most people join the Hive platforms for different reasons. Those reasons primarily influence whatever decisions they make. A person who uses Hive as a full-time business may likely cash out from time to time. At least to make up for their time and effort and meet some needs, which I think is not wrong. On the other hand, a person whose intention is to build may not likely cash out but decides to power up, especially when they run other businesses or is an employee or someone who has other sources of income, because they're thinking long term.
When I first joined Hive, my intention was to be cashing out every month end and power up a little. But along the line, while interacting with some serious minded users I considered as mentors, I noticed that they have a long term vision of building something huge because of where Hive is going, then I had a second thought. Again, to be able to support other users just as I'm being supported too, I should have a tangible Hive power which may not be possible if I keep powering down or taking out funds.
Although, I'd cashed out once, to confirm that the system is reliable, no doubt about that now. But then, it's not an easy task to have some money somewhere and be in need, yet can't touch it because of a long term plan. Also sometimes when I look at my wallet and compare it with the need, I find out that it won't make any visible difference if taken out, as the reward comes in a bit and is not something I should depend on for my daily needs.. So I just have to put in more effort to grow it. Which requires a whole lot of discipline and determination.
Powering up or cashing out is a matter of choice which everyone is entitled to. I choose to power up monthly and sometimes daily too. At the beginning of this year I set a goal to reach 3000 HP by the end of the year. If I achieve that, I'll set a higher one until I reach 50,000 HP. That's my target. I don't see myself achieving that if I don't make it a point of duty to be consistent in powering up. Besides, I have a philosophy that, having a long term vision in most cases pays more.
