When it comes to saving money, it is often described as a simple process of earning consistently, budget carefully, and put money aside every week or every month. But savings is kind of difficult for me, saving money is much more challenging because I do not have a stable income right now, and I am unable to accurately track my income and expenses. Despite these difficulties, I still believe that saving money is still possible and I have not lose hope, we are in the beginning of new year, and this year I am determined to develop better financial habits that will help me improve my life somehow.

Because my income is irregular, I cannot fully rely on a fixed monthly savings. Some months I earn more, while other months I struggle to cover basic needs but the little I earn, I saved from it. But this uncertainty makes it difficult to plan ahead or commit to a specific savings amount. As a result, saving money has often feltt unpredictable and frustrating. And since my income comes from different sources at different times, tracking expenses consistently has been a challenge. Sometimes I spend without recording it, and later I am unsure where my money went.
Despite these obstacles, I am learning to adapt my approach to saving. Instead of focusing on fixed monthly savings, I plan to save whenever I receive money, no matter how small the amount. Even setting aside a little helps build discipline and reinforces the habit of saving. This year, my goal is not perfection but consistency. I want to become more mindful of my spending, even if I cannot track every single expense accurately.
One of my key plans this year is to improve my awareness of financial priorities. Since I cannot depend on on stable income, I must be extra careful about distinguishing between needs and wants. I plan to limit unnecessary spending and focus on essentials responsibilities. When extra money comes in, I hope to save part of it instead of spending it all immediately, which has been a common habit in the past.
This year is also about building financial resilience. Without stable income, unexpected expenses can be overwhelming. My goal is to gradually create a small emergency fund, even if it grows slowly. Knowing that I have something set as aside will reduce stress and give me confidence to handle unexpected situations.
Saving money, even under difficult circumstances, is already changing my mindset. I am becoming more patient, cautious, and intentional with my financial decisions. Although I may not be able to track every expense or save consistently, I am learning to take responsibility for what I can control. This shift in mindset is helping me feel more empowered rather than discouraged.
There are special things on my mind this year, especially the hope for financial stability in the future. I want to reach a point where my income is more reliable and my financial habits are stronger. Saving money now, even imperfectly, is a step toward that future.
Saving money with an unstable income is not easy, I know but it is not impossible. This year, my focus is on small steps, awareness, and discipline. I believe these efforts will gradually change my life by helping me build confidence, resilience, and a better financial foundation for the future.
