Beautiful Thursday to everyone here on hive and this beautiful indiaunited community. Welcome once again to my blog as i submit my entry participation in this week contest tagged" How are you dealing with the heat? My name once again is @nemzy all the way from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
Summer as we all know is very pleasant time as everywhere radiates with happiness and brightness.
Here in Nigeria, the intense heat season is between December and January. During this period the rains are no more and the sun becomes very scorching most days. So how do cope during this season of the year?
PROPER VENTILATION: My windows are always open especially early mornings and late evenings to allow fresh air from outside. I also live sitting outside under the shade during the day if I'm at home and not at my business place. I also drink plenty water to avoid dehydration.
FREQUENT BATH: I make sure i pour water on my body as many times as the heat is too much especially at night if there's no light supply to put on the fan as i don't have air-conditioning facility at the moment.
MY HAIRSTYLE: The hairstyles i make during this period are such that wouldn't increase the heat. As such i go for short hair styles most times just braids with my ordinary hair with no artificial stuff like attachment, weavon or wool.
MY CHOICE OF WEARS: During this heat period, i choose the colours of dress i put on. I go for light white materials with long hand to protect my skin from sunburn and also keep some heat away.
I also ensure that i plan my going out predominantly in the evenings that's if I'm indoors i avoid going out when the sun is intense except I'd left the house already in the morning and wouldn't return till evening. If anything must take me out when the sun is hot, i go with my umbrella to shade me from the sun and keep away sunstroke.
DIET: During this period i try as much as possible to avoid eating very heavy meals that would take pretty long time to digest especially at night.
These are some measures i take to deal with heat during peak summer.
