RE: The Quasi Traditional Yearly Epic: Grateful Reflections and Tough Questions for Myself (and You) 8 Years On

in #hive16 days ago

Thank you, @crimsonclad, for providing (to anyone interested in truthfully even beginning to understand) us all a glimpse of what goes on "in here." That I have chosen to say anything is a tribute to the impact you had on me personally, in the early days of my own "journey" through this "virtual world."

Beyond providing what I hope will be a little bit of encouragement to you, I could write a whole post of my own in a fuller response, but ... I will stop, before I start.

Out of my respect and regard (extended to, sadly, only a remarkably small number of others) for a lion-hearted Hivian, I will simply and succinctly close wishing for you all the best, for a better tomorrow!

Sort:

thank you, it worked! 🖤 I don't expect most people to consume 6000+ words, but I think the depth in which we consider what we want and what we can do should be available to those who want it. As I was saying to Meno, the goal was hopefully not a broadly negative post, but rather just what it looks like to be a whole human while also trying to work on something that is carefully designed and shepherded to be much more than any one human is capable of.

I think a lot of people think the whales or "familiar faces" around here are sort of untouchable, and to a degree based on their personas they may be, but in general I still think of pretty much all of us together in the pond looking out at the ocean beyond us and feeling like we have such an untouched, special ecosystem. Would that more people could experience this fresh oasis, that we could shout about it and have them all join, but somehow without overfilling it or bringing along residual salt... and there's the crux of building and balance. Success looks so different to everyone, ideology is interpreted broadly and in so many different ways.

A better tomorrow is always on the way, even if it's not always with the ones we wish could be with us, or with the accomplishments we want within reach. I think in a lot of ways blockchain and crypto symbolizes that, even though from a lot of perspectives it's also the harbinger of the death of a lot of what we know.

As someone who's been here a long time, and who is wisely not always dumping encyclopedias unless the mood strikes them, how do you feel some forms of position or defined paid tasks align with the ecosystem? How do you feel about the idea of a backpay proposal? Where do you think the balance is on what voluntarism and grassroots efforts eventually meet up with fair(ish) recompense?

Answer any, or none, or counter with different questions we actually should be asking~

🌄 Good morning (here)! ☕ Thank you for a well thought out and detailed response.

"Answer any, or none, or counter with different questions we actually should be asking~"

It is thoughtful of you to ask my opinion. To be honest and open with you, I truly don't think my opinion matters. Further, it would likely be discouraging to you and I would prefer to not be a source of discouragement, given what I read in your post.
