I'm concerned about the collective guilt people so readily assign.

All Russians want Ukraine to be crushed

All Israelis want Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran to be crushed

All Iranians are mindless jihadis who want to kill every Jew

I saw this in America after the September 11th attacks almost 25 years ago, when Americans were encouraged to hate all Muslims. Some people still cling to that hate. This was used to justify two decades of pointless war. But Bin Laden also used that same collective guilt to build his terrorist network on blaming all Americans for middle east intervention, too.

I'm sure there is no incentive for Russia to support free speech and anti-war activism. They have fewer protections than we do for free speech and dissent, and ours have been severely eroded.

Suppose all Iranians ever saw were MAGA cheers for war. They could rightly believe Americans were unified against them, just as Ukrainians believe Russians are unified behind Putin.
