Gene & Ashlee’s Eighties Saturday Song Picks! The Cure & Billy Idol 🎸 DailyJams!

On this Saturday morning it’s Eighties Saturday! Me & Ashlee are each picking tunes from one eighties artists each!

Ashlee goes with The Cure and picks her DailyJam, the song “Just Like Heaven” off the 1987 album “Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me” For BonusJam it’s one album later and the song “Pictures Of You” from 1989’s “Disintegration” record.

I (Gene) go with Billy Idol and for DailyJam pick the song “White Wedding” from 1982’s self titled “Billy Idol” album. Next up for BonusJam it’s the song “Rebel Yell” from the 1983 album by same title “Rebel Yell”.

I've always been a big fan of both! Robert Smith and The Cure were a game changer in the 80's musical scene. I was in high school when both of those songs came out, awesome music. Well written and intelligent. Pictures of You is my favorite of two there today!

Billy Idol is just awesome! He had that nice hard rock edge mixed with the alternative sound of the late 80's. Rebel Yell is one of my favorite songs, just so intense and raw! Great Saturday selections!

So good! Early Cure especially in my opinion! But I always like the lesser known early stuff with most bands. But the period from mid seventies punk in r toon to just a few years later with post punk & “new wave” it’s just such a great period. Most the legends started out as a punk band like The Cure & Joy Division & Siouxsie & The Banshees. Such a fast couple years to this grand new sound! So good!

Edit - I didn't know the Ramones opened for Billy in the eighties! & another eighties punk band I discuss often! So good!

The Head on the Door is when I first remember hearing them, Close to Me is a great song! Their earlier stuff is good too, but until the internet it was hard to find!

I’m a decade older or so and lived the eighties life. Billy was my first concert. The Ramones opened up. You won’t even believe the warm up band that played first, The Descendents. A band I see you discuss often. Not kidding it was Billy with those two bands opening.

White Wedding is in my top 10 of favourite songs, and Billy Idol is an idol of mine, love his music, and the The Cure, love them too.
The Lovecats from The Cure is another of my top 10!
