It’s Wednesday and that means it’s ALT2K Wednesday! This week me and Ashlee (my girlfriend) each pick a “Pop” Punk band from the early 2000’s. We try & mix up what kinda alternative rock we choose and we agree pop punk bands are technically a corner of alt rock music so fit. I choose a 2002 release & Ashlee goes 2003! We pick releases that didn’t get much mainstream attention but instead were in a more underground scene with a decent fan base.

Ashlee picks the band Mest and the 2003 self titled third album from the band. Picking the song Jaded as her DailyJam & the song Burning Bridges for BonusJam!

I (Gene) pick the band Allister and there second album 2002’s Last Stop Suburbia. The band never got mainstream attention but built a solid fan base in the early 2000’s. For DailyJam I pick the song Somewhere On Fullerton & BonusJam the opening track the song Scratch.

Let’s Go!

The lead singer of Mest has a very special voice, and it perfectly captures the sound of that era, my favorite era in music. It's amazing how many punk artists I've discovered on your blog, and I always add them to my playlist, thanks for that. It's a sound that takes me back to my youth...

Sounds like Blink-182 wannabes.
