Good afternoon, dear friends of Buskeria! I'm happy to be back here again to share a new story I've written for you. Today's story is about Bethany. As you'll see, she's a hip-hop singer and dancer. She faces a challenge that she must overcome to prove she can succeed. You'll see what happens to her in the story. With that said, let's begin. I hope you enjoy it.

Buenas tardes queridos y estimados amigos de Buskeria, me da gusto poder estar nuevamente por acá para compartirles una nueva historia que he escrito para ustedes. Esta de hoy la escribí sobre Bethany. Ella como verán es una cantante y bailarina de Hip-hop. Debe enfrentarse a una prueba que deberá superar y demostrar si puede lograrlo. Ya verán en la historia lo que le ocurre. Dicho esto ya podemos comenzar. Espero que les guste.

Bethany's love for hip-hop began when she was little; she loved listening to it. She watched various youth programs on television where young people sang it. She loved the sound of it, so she knew that one day she would do the same. She used to practice by humming the songs after hearing them on TV. Everyone at home had a lot of fun listening to her because she was a bit clumsy at first. But as she improved, they realized how much she had improved. So everyone at home started to worry a little. Yes, because it had all started as a hobby, and they thought that when she grew up she would outgrow it, but it was the opposite.

At home, everyone associated that music with street people or people who weren't good for society. Since they didn't listen to much of that kind of music, they had internalized that idea. So when they saw that Bethany was slowly becoming a hip-hop singer, they started pressuring her to give it up and dedicate herself to something more useful.

El gusto por el Hip-hop empezó siendo pequeña, a Bethany le encantaba escucharlo. Por la televisión veía varios programas juveniles en donde varios jóvenes lo cantaban. En casa todos tenían esa música asociada con personas de la calle o personas que no eran buenas para la sociedad. Como no escuchaban mucha música de ese tipo, se habían creído esa idea en la mente. Así que al ver que Bethany se estaba convirtiendo poco a poco en una cantante de hip-hop comenzaron a presionarla para que dejara eso y se dedicara a otra cosa más útil.

So, while still a young girl, she had to begin her fight. The fight was to convince everyone at home that hip-hop wasn't bad. That some people used it for other purposes, or that they were street kids, had nothing to do with that kind of music or with her. She just wanted to sing and dance and energize her fans in the process. With time and dedication, her fight was successful, and she convinced everyone at home that there was nothing wrong with being a girl who danced and sang hip-hop. But that fight was just the first of many. Soon, many more would come, each one harder than the last. Only by persevering and fighting for what she wanted to become could she win.

The toughest fight she faced came after several others, and it was convincing the industry that a girl could indeed be a hip-hop singer. The problem was that in the country where she lived, it wasn't common for a girl to dedicate herself to that. Normally, that genre was dominated by men. The music videos Bethany watched when she was little were from international girls in countries where they were freer in terms of the type of music.

Since she couldn't convince everyone individually that a girl could be a part of that music, she thought of something that would give her more visibility. And after searching extensively, she found the opportunity. There was a competition in the country to determine who was the best hip-hop musician. She saw this as a golden opportunity, since many people would see her and she could change their minds. But registering wasn't easy; the judges didn't want to accept her because they were all men. And a woman had never been seen in that competition. But since the rules didn't prevent her from entering, after Bethany's pressure, they finally had to let her in.

Everyone thought she would be a failure and would make a fool of herself in the competition. But far from what they expected, she won the competition and was the best singer and dancer that day. She showed everyone that a girl could sing hip-hop and that it wasn't as bad as they thought. By overcoming that struggle that day, more girls were encouraged to follow in her footsteps, and many who had previously looked down on that music changed their minds. Bethany won and proved that it can be done. But the struggles continue; this won't stop until she reaches the top.

Dado que no podía convencer a todos uno a uno de que en esa música si podía haber una chica pensó en algo que le diera más visibilidad. Y luego de buscar mucho encontró al oportunidad. En el país había un concurso para demostrar quien era el mejor músico de hip-hop. Ella vio la oportunidad de oro en ese concurso pues muchos la podrán ver y podía cambiar su opinión. Pero inscribirse no fue nada fácil, los jueces no querían aceparla porque todos eran hombres. Y nunca se había visto a una mujer en ese concurso. Pero como las reglas no impedían que entrara al final luego de las presiones de Bethany tuvieron que dejar que entrara.

Todos pensaban que ella sería un fracaso y que haría un papelazo en el concurso. Pero lejos de eso que pensaban ella ganó el concurso y fue la mejor que cantó y bailó ese día. Le enseñó a todos que una chica si podía cantar hip-hop y que era tan malo como pensaban. Al vencer esa lucha ese día más chicas se animaron a seguir sus pasos, y muchos que antes veían con malos ojos esa música cambiaron de opinión. Bethany ganó y demostró que si se puede. Pero las luchas continúan, esto no se detiene hasta que ella alcance lo más alto.
