The theme I want to explore in this story is that music can be a double-edged sword, like anything good that's misused. Jonah and his band will have to learn this the hard way, but I'll tell you now that the ending isn't what it seems. If you want to find out, then keep reading. With that said, let's begin.

Un cordial saludo para todos mis amigos queridos de Buskeria, me da mucho gusto poder saludarlos hoy de nuevo y poder compartirles mi nueva historia. Esta es sobre Jonah. El tema que quiero tratar en la historia es que la música puede ser un arma de doble filo como cualquier cosa buena que se usa mal. Jonah y su banda tendrán que comprobar esto por las malas, pero les adelanto que el final de la historia no es lo que parece. Si quieren descubrirlo pues continúen leyendo. Dicho esto pues arrancamos.

For about seven years, Jonah played with his band. He was the lead flautist and often actively involved in writing the songs. Those seven years were truly great for them; they started with great passion, captivating audiences everywhere their music reached. Above all, they forged a strong friendship. They spent more time together than with their own families and knew each other very well. But that band friendship was severely fractured in their last year together before the disaster struck. That final year was unlike any other; musically, things hadn't gone well for them.

Their latest album had been of somewhat lower quality, so almost no one attended their concerts. Many had been counting on its success to fund their personal projects. The failure had left them with many unfulfilled goals that year. To avoid repeating the mistake, they worked hard to do a much better job on their next album; the goal was to avoid the same errors they had made on the last one.

Por cerca de unos 7 años Jonah tocó junto a la banda a la que pertenecía. Él era el flautista principal del grupo y el que participaba activamente escribiendo las canciones en muchos casos. Esos 7 años fueron realmente buenos para ellos, empezaron con gran pasión conquistando al público en todas partes a la que su música llegaba. Lo mejor que lograron fue construir por encima de todo una gran amistad entre ellos. Es que pasaban más tiempo juntos que con sus mismas familias, se conocían muy bien. Pero esa amistad de la banda se vio muy fracturada en el último año que atuvieron juntos antes de que ocurriera el desastre. Ese ultimo año fue diferente al resto, no les había ido muy bien musicalmente hablando.

El último trabajo había sido un poco de menor calidad, por tanto casi nadie fue a los conciertos que organizaron. Muchos contaban con que fuera exitoso para poder salir adelante con proyectos personales que tenían. El fracaso los había dejado con muchas metas frustradas en ese año. Para que no se repitiera el error de nuevo ellos se esforzaron mucho por hacer un trabajo muy superior en su próximo disco musical, el objetivo era evitar los mismos errores que habían cometido en el ultimo.

Each member contributed their ideas and skills to this new musical project. After a considerable amount of preparation, it was ready to begin production. This album was going to be truly brilliant. Everyone knew that what they had created together was so good that it would be a smash hit in every music market in Buskeria. But just before production and recording began, a dispute arose among all the members except Jonah. The dispute was that each one claimed to have put more work into the project than the others, and therefore should receive a larger share.

What motivated them to act this way was their desire to complete as quickly as possible the things they hadn't been able to finish due to the failure of the previous album. None of the members were willing to compromise; each wanted a larger share. Jonah did his best to calm things down by mediating between them. He told them that since this had been created with everyone's help, the profits should be divided equally among them. They didn't listen to him; on the contrary, they were very annoyed with him for not taking sides.

Cada miembro aportó sus ideas y sus habilidades para este nuevo proyecto musical. Tras un buen tiempo de preparación ya estaba listo para comenzar a producirse. Este disco sería realmente brillante. Todos sabían que lo que habían creado juntos era tan buen que la rompería en todos los mercados musicales de Buskeria. Pero justo antes de empezar la producción y las grabaciones surgió una disputa entre todos los miembros excepto Jonah. La disputa era que cada uno decía que había puesto más trabajo que los otros en la creación del proyecto, por tanto deberían llevarse una mayor parte.

Lo que los motivaba a actuar así era que querían completar cuando antes las cosas que no pudieron hacer por el fracaso del disco pasado. Ninguno de los miembros estaba dispuesto a ceder, cada uno quería mayor parte. Jonah hizo lo posible por calmar las cosas intercediendo entre ellos. There was no way to resolve this amicably; they had to go to court. In the trial, all the judges unanimously declared that, since the album was made with everyone's ideas and skills, it didn't belong to anyone in particular to claim a larger share of the profits. The court ruling was that Jonah, the only neutral member of the group, would safeguard the album's ideas and songs until they reached an agreement, but they couldn't produce it, much less sell it, until everyone was in agreement. Jonah liked this ruling because he knew it was the right thing to do. But his bandmates didn't like it at all, and this is what ultimately created the storm and the disaster.

They couldn't sing together from that day forward because they couldn't reach an agreement. They all abandoned music. Jonah, left alone, couldn't continue in the band. Therefore, he also stopped playing the flute. A long time passed after that before things calmed down a bit and the resentment subsided. Jonah then saw this as an opportunity he had to seize to see if he could fix things with everyone.

No hubo forma de arreglar eso por las buenas, hubo que ir a los tribunales. En el juicio todos los jueces declararon por unanimidad que al ser un disco hecho con ideas de todos y con las habilidades de cada uno pues no pertenecía a nadie en especifico para que se llevara una mayor parte de las ganancias. El fallo del juicio fue que Jonah el único del grupo neutral custodiara las ideas y las canciones del disco hasta que se pusieran de acuerdo, pero no podían producirlo y menos venderlo hasta que todos estuvieran de acuerdo. Esta sentencia le gustó a Jonah porque el sabia que eso era lo correcto. Pero a sus amigos de la banda no les gustó nada y esto fue lo que terminó creando la tormenta y el desastre.

No pudieron cantar juntos a partir de ese día, pues no quedaron de acuerdo. Todos abandonaron la música. Jonah al quedarse solo no podía continuar en la banda. Por tanto dejó de tocar la flauta también. Pasó mucho tiempo luego de eso para que las cosas se calmaran un poco y el resentimiento bajara. Jonah entonces vio aquí una oportunidad que debía aprovechar para ver si podía arreglar las cosas con todos.

He called them all together and reminded them of the good times they'd shared years before, that they couldn't continue like this, separated. They had used music as a double-edged sword. He offered them something to see if they would change their minds. They would each produce an equal share of the album, but Jonah's share would be divided among them so they could earn a little more. This gesture softened them all. They saw what a great person Jonah was. They didn't accept his share, but his gesture brought them back together.

They acknowledged that they had strayed from the path and hadn't thought as a group. They decided to play together again and release the album. The album was a success, as expected, and each of them earned more than they had anticipated, because it exceeded their expectations. This showed them how foolish they had been and what they almost lost by being so closed-minded. Luckily, Jonah was there to sort everything out.

Los llamó a todos y les recordó los buenos tiempos que vivieron juntos hacia años atrás, que no podían seguir así separados. Habían usado la música como arma de doble filo. Les ofreció algo para ver si ellos cambiaban de opinión. Producirían el disco cada uno cogía una parte pareja pero la que le correspondía a el mismo a Jonah se la repartieran entre ellos para que ganaran un poco más. Este gesto los ablandó a todos. Vieron la gran persona que era Jonah. No aceptaron su parte, pero su gesto sirvió para reunirlos de nuevo.

Reconocieron que se habían desviado del camino y que no pensaron como grupo. Decidieron volver a tocar juntos y sacar ese disco. El disco fue un éxito como se esperaba y cada uno ganó más de lo que esperaba, porque superó sus expectativas. Eso les mostró lo tontos que habían sido y por poco lo que pierden por cerrarse de entendederas. Por suerte Jonah estaba ahí para solucionar todo.
