How would react if the 2nd haircut level is reached (1).jpg

In today's Liotes Mission, we would like to talk about HBD and the haircut rule. You probably realised that on your posts, you don't get any HBD as rewards anymore. It's because the higher level of the haircut rule has been reached. This means that HBD is not distributed anymore as rewards. There is however the lower Haircut rule at 30% of dept, which means that the peg to 1$ will be lost until the dept level is reached again. This would mean that 1 HBD would not be worth 1 $ anymore. To reach this situation, Hive price would need to drop to 0.036$ according to hbdstats.com.

If the second haircut level would be reached, how would you react ?

Hi. I had read something about this before, but I didn't know that for the Haircut to reach its goal, the price of $HIVE needs to drop to $0.03.It's practically half of what it's currently worth. And well, if that happens, it will be a hard blow since I've been striving to create and share quality content ever since I started here on Hive (almost two years ago now).

However, I wouldn't fall apart completely, but rather quite the opposite. I decided to be more active this year and have been striving to achieve that goal, but the low price of Hive is now another incentive for the following reasons: First, because I can accumulate and earn more HIVE and HP in author rewards, and second, My account would grow faster now with the price and market correction, since most users who are only active for the money would leave, leaving only those of us who truly create value.

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the differences between "price" and "value" thanks to this winter season at Hive. My goal before all of this was to become a Dolphin, and I feel that if I give it my all now, I can achieve it by the end of this year if I take advantage of this opportunity. All is not lost, this will only be temporary, it is part of the general market cycle. Just as calm comes after a strong storm, better times will soon arrive after this season.

This is my first time participating in this, so I hope I did well. 😅

I think that once price drops below a nickel we won't see much participation anymore, and many will give it up as a dead project. If we hit thirty percent debt and the HBD peg is gone, the party is completely over. I'm not sure things are reparable at that point, and to be honest I worry they may not be now. No one seems to have taken any real steps to cut spending since we hit twenty percent, and the interest rate remains at an unsustainable fifteen percent on HBD. That needs a serious haircut for starters, and then the wasteful DHF needs to be reformed.

Then again, I seriously doubt any of that will happen. I think too many feel the ship is sailing just fine, and panic won't set it until we drop below a nickel.

Actually, so far I haven't seen anything drastic being done. What I did was stop voting on all proposals and only vote on the hbd stabilizer and the return proposal.

Now that witnesses are rising, we can also stop voting on those with 15% and above and only vote on those with a lower percentage for hbd savings.

it will be really sasd to see that thing happen, we might see a ghost town, but I don;t think it will be fully abandon.
our older brother is still around though although their price is lower than us.

I have such a small amount so I cannot say I will feel anything at all to be honest. :)

I actually realise one could still convert the liquid Hive into HBD via the markets if they still want to get 50% HBD 50% HP like last time. But for me, it's too much of a hassle, will just accumulate and power up the liquid Hive instead.

I'll stay here. What matters to me about Hive is not in the value of its tokens but in its users and in the capabilities of its technology. And if I can, I'll take the opportunity to stack more Hive. 😁

Thanks to share how the HBD haircut works. The price of 0.036$ usually changes while the token prices drops that's a little confusion do you know why? We're getting closer to the number, I read somewhere that in the past it was 10% of debt, then it increased and now it's almost happening again. If for whatever reason BTC prices drops again, we could see hive prices going even lower. What I fear is something similar to the death spirral happening here, but the sistem hive has will deppeg to prevent it from happening I think...

One thing that could be done is having a flexible interest rate for HBD in this cases to prevent a huge sell and a big rise in the hive supply overnight.

It'll pretty much be game over at that point tbh. That said, I still consider this amount of "money" I have in HIVE to be pretty much negligible, so I'm just going to roll the dice and ride it to zero! 🤣

Pause and re-assess and then based on the earnings buy more hive.

So, I am already taking actions with cautious, I plan to move some hbd out of chain until we see better days. If you have money that you can lose in the savings, in my point of view is time to move it. If you see the movement of the hive/hbd market some medium holders dumped a lot of hbd, the biggest seller just got rid of 10k HBD.
So if we reach the 2nd haircut I plan not to have there money that I can't lose. That's my only concern, with other things I will continue to post, and I think that the best thing to do now is trying to accumulate hive and hope for better days :P

I see HIVE as being in a very poor state; after the problem with negative votes, things went from bad to worse.
Personally, I am investing more in layer 2 tokens from responsible projects, which I believe will also be affected, but I like the interaction between the people who remain on the platform.
I will wait to see what happens and then make a decision.

All I hear is oh it will be fine.

I see we are almost at 23% so the ratio is still increasing.

I see no responsibility being taken by anyone. Spending is still being done as if HIVE is at $3 not 7 fluffing cents.

In the real world, projects get mothballed or cancelled. Here people ask for more fluffing money. It is laughable.

HIVE as a token is not even in the top 400. People act like it is 2016 and the chain is in the top 25. I remember the whales urging people to goto Twitter to say how sustainable a 20% APR on HBD was... I still fail to see how.

To be honest, I don't worry too much about it. For the last twenty years, I've always been involved in projects that promised something and ultimately failed.
I'm basically a blogger, and this network gives me the opportunity to write and publish things that aren't possible on other blockchains, or where the rewards are a hundred times smaller. But I'm mainly here because of the community, which is still strong.
Perhaps Hive will survive mainly because of its solid infrastructure?
Maybe it's time for the main front ends to start using their L2 tokens?
Maybe AI will make everything irrelevant?
In any case, this situation reflects the times we live in.

It is really sad to see it happening because hive is such an amazing community. But macro economic factors are reeally pushing down on hive prices

I don't think I understand where the debt comes from much less to get to 30% debt. How does the debt calculation work? All this talk about debt makes me worry about who is making the decision to get into so much debt in th first place.

imo, I think it's better to have full HP rewards tho so people will think of the long term because we know that unstaking HP will take 1 year. For the debt things, well... It's kinda sad to see that. I hope this solution will be good, if it's not, then something really need to change.

Thank you for explaining the HBD haircut process. I'm committed to buying HIVE using earnings from game playing and similar passtimes. Which isn't much. But if the second haircut level is reached, it means that I'll be buying more HIVE.

As I'm not invested with money i really don't care that much about the hive value, for me it's more about the people on the platform.

It's like a gun shot to start whaling up myself

This is something to think about. But I'm hoping that won't happen.
Maybe I'd buy some HIVE if I had extra funds.

For me, nothing changes. I withdrew all the HBD I had in Salvings a long time ago. All I can do now is continue posting and accumulating Hive.

It's a complicated question, even the most optimistic and passionate hive lovers might be at a loss. Right now, I'm feeling a bit down too, I won't deny it, but I think that if you lose your grip, the best thing to do is try to stay calm and see if it's worth continuing to post.

I also can't deny that being able to create content and get paid for it is really cool, but if you do that and can't use it to pay your bills or anything like that, it gets complicated too. I love the friends I've made here, the challenges we've overcome, but I want things to work out too.

Anyway, I think I would continue to create content on Hive, but maybe I would slow down a little.
