What do you think about the Fifa World Cup .jpg

I know, not everybody is a fan of football, or soccer as they say over the pond, but all the same it's the biggest sports event in the world which takes place every 4 years. This year it is combinedly organized by Canada, Mexico and the USA. I just wonder whether Hivians care ?

Are you watching the World Cup ? What do you think about ? Do you like it ? What is your favorite Team ?

Please leave your answer as a comment below this post. Looking forward to reading them :-)

If football is on in a bar, I usually watch it. But I don't go out of my way. Though now that a World Cup is running, I'll certainly head off to a bar if England are playing. Because it's usually a good atmosphere.

However, I'm really enjoying the other World Cup...

Cricket World Cup Standings

Off to a cracking start 😁 🏏

!BBH

I am also following the women's T20 world cup.

Cricket is one of the sports that I don't really understand. For me it's more football lol

Back in the 2000s, UK Channel 4 were showing live International cricket. Including the Ashes which is the name given to series against Australia.

They introduced slow motion replays and had expert commentary from former players. Suddenly, I understood the mysteries and I got hooked. But without that, I might still be one of the millions who just don't get it.

!BBH

Of course, I'm following the World Cup.
I find it super exciting, as always.
There are very intense matches and surprises that make it even more interesting.
My favourite team is Germany, although there are several teams that are playing amazing.

Germany has a great team this year. We will see until where they go...

Not much of a soccer fan, so not paying much attention to it to be honest! lol

It's not everybody's cup of tea :-)

It’s a major event that draws everyone’s attention to the host country. I think the biggest concern is when those in charge focus only on the money and forget about soccer, the passion, the love for the jersey, and all those things related to soccer and sports.

It’s a magnificent event—the best of the best—so I think it’s really positive.

I really love to see the videos of the fans meeting in the towns and having a great time together.

I recall Hivebuzz organized a betting game for the Women's world cup then. I participated and it was fun. So, I was expecting same with the men. Sadly, there's none.

Well, If it's about football, count me out. Haven't watched any of the matches. May not even watch. It's as bad as that. 😂
All the same, may the best team win.

Yes there was no such initiative this time around :-)

what i think .. it shouldn't excist , consumer products are to expensive on the market because of companies sponsoring soccer .
they should buy hive instead 😎

they should buy hive instead

That's an idea lets make them buy hive :-)

to mutch atention for a sport with such bad behaving suporters / hooligans .

I think the vibes of the world cup are often a bit different than what we see in europe with hooligans and ultras. I actually quite like the vibes of the fans dancing and having a nice time together.

I am not into football / soccer. I sometimes do watch few matches.

I am more into cricket.

Cricket is probably a great sport but it's one of the few sports that I don't understand the rules and from what I get is that a game can last several days 😛

Ya, test matches last for 5 days or till result
But, One day is 50 overs match, so approx 8/9 hours per game
Then, its T20, 20 overs match, which is fast paced and completes mostly in 4 hours
T10, 10 overs match, completes in 2/2.5 hours (not an international format though)
100 is another format, a tournament played in UK, starts july. A little different than others

So there is variety, test matches though goes on for 5 days, its good to watch..

To be very frank, as for the game rules, i am still a learner. 😊

I watched Argentina win last night on my laptop screen with no volume, while Milwaukee Brewers baseball was on the TV! I'm a fan of Wisconsin baseball and American football-Green Bay Packers, but the World Cup is a pretty special event and I will watch some.

I like to see how the fans come together and exchange their culutures and discover the host countries.

If I'm not mistaken, the last time I really watched a FIFA World Cup was way back in 2006 when Beckham played😁

Well that's some time ago. Now he owns a team lol

I only follow the results of my country's national team, Spain 🇪🇸, but I don't watch the games, although I have to listen to them in the background while I do other things because my husband usually watch them. 😆
!PIMP

my husband usually watch them. 😆

I was in Spain when a world cup took place and it was an amazing atmosphere to watch the games in local pubs on big screens :-)

If it was in 2010, I was one of those who saw the final in a local pub. 😁

Watching at least 2-3 matches a day! Gotta make the most out of the $$$ paid (almost USD100! I believe my country is among the most expensive in the world) for my football subscription! 🤣

I watch about 1 game a day max because I don't want to wake up at 3 am to watch a game lol.

I regularly watch soccer so yeah I watch FIFA world cup.

My favorite team is the Samurai Blue. I like Brazil but they do not call and play their best players so I won't cheer them this time. My second favorite is the Portugal, its uncle Dodo last world cup anyway.

Japan has a great team and they play with a lot of speed and energy. I love to watch them.

I usually watch the world cup but this time it feels that they are too many countries to keep up... I do hope for some underdog wins instead of the usual favourites but may the best team win! Hahaha!

Yes it's quite difficult to keep track with 48 countries...

I don't think.
I don't follow.
I don't care.

No football no problem lol

lol, no problem with football

I am following it sporadically, from the bench !LOLZ

It is too big to be ignored, unfortunately.

Several things:

  • USA authorities show how their country is a racist dictatorship
  • hydration breaks are a hypocrisy
  • I really don't understand how people, aka fans, are ready to pay thousands of dollars just to participate in these hunger games, and are treated like sheep

!BEER

I quite enjoy watching the fans, especially the scots showing the usa how to party lol

I really miss this tournament...Love it despite of knowing that FIFA exploits the host countries a lot for profit. But football is my life! I am Brazilian, so it is unconditional love, right? The current squad sucks a lot but I want to win anyway!

But football is my life! I am Brazilian, so it is unconditional love

That says it all :-)

Nowadays I don't watch football cup. In my youth we could to gather with friends and to watch football matchs. But honestly I'm not a football fan.
I prefer volleyball 🏐

Volleyball is actually almost nicer to watch for the tension of the game.

I'm not really into soccer. I only watch one game by my country's national team, but because of their poor performance, I've lost interest—I'm not even following it anymore. Still, it's a great time to spend with family, friends, or even strangers.

Still, it's a great time to spend with family, friends, or even strangers.

I enjoy watching the games in public places and see how people are celebrating :-)

I've just watched DAZN's 76 second highlight video of the England v Croatia game and that's all I've watched so far. Apart from that I'm playing the guess-the-score game on Satsman but doubt that I'll win any satoshi prizes as I've done no research on the teams' current form. I might get drawn in if England keep on doing well, but for now I'm just keeping an eye on the results.

That was quite a good game and England did well. I wonder until where they will go this time.

I watched the Japan vs Tunisia game live on Sunday as it kicked off at 1pm Tokyo time. I think it might be Japan's best ever result in a World Cup, but Tunisia were poor so that's not saying much.

If I have time, I will watch it, but I don't consider it necessary. I don't have a favorite in the series as I don't know enough about any of the teams.

It's more national teams playing the cup every 4 years. So it's more about national pride :-)

I am currently not watching it. But I also don't watch any sports so nothing special there. Good luck to which ever team you pick. :)

I like the vibes of the event.

I will watch it if my friends do so, not because I support anyone. :)

I don't really support any team but I really enjoy to watch the vibes and the fans.
