Great question. This is precisely why I was extremely excited the first time I even heard about VSC.
To grow Hive and make it a success, you need to increase demand for Hive assets. Its not enough just to build for the sake of building.

No other Hive project increases the demand for Hive in any direct, meaningful way, except VSC. Ill point you to my tweet here.

VSC will be revenue generating just like Thorchain, Maya, etc.
It creates a whole new use case for HBD. It creates demand for HBD as you need it to overcollateralize non-EVM coins/tokens on VSC.
Ultimate goal... utilize so much HBD that to get more, you need to buy Hive and convert.

TLDR. VSC generates revenue and creates clear demand for Hive.
ofc, we need to get to that point.

I will be interested to see if the VSC team can grow demand enough to kick off that flywheel.

Obviously we saw splinterlands do it in the past when people were buying hive to get in game assets and the team were buying hive to create more accounts in the last bull run.

Hopefully the VSC team can build that demand so that people are buying Hive off the markets for conversions. In a long term and sustainable way would be even better.

I know that you will push marketing from your end so hopefully this leads to more demand and more partnerships.

I want it to succeed as if we can't turn hive inflation negative or grow the community large enough at some point the token price will drop so low that we lose most of the community and interest in our eco-system.

The difference between Splinterlands in this case would be that the end asset arent Spl cards or SPS. It all goes into Hive. So the effect would be amplified. ofc, its important to state that Splinterlands was a massive success and emulating that will be incredibly difficult.
You can even presume that revenue generated will be used to buy HBD to continue increasing cut of the fees.

Yes. its about partnerships, integrations and creating external demand for HBD. We have a clear path for what to do.
