This post is also my entry for this week's #pobphotocontest. The theme for this week is "young" and the first photo in this post will be my entry for the contest.
This actually got me thinking...
What is so special about being young? Well, for starters I would say that it is the most carefree stage of your life...or should I (sadly) say in today's world...it's supposed to be the most carefree and fun-filled time of your life.
Maybe while being a child, we don't always realize it, as we always dream of being big. But once you get a taste of adulthood, you sometimes wish you can be a kid again...lol.
Also, once we become adults, we are many times amazed by the innocence of the young.
It's the same in nature. We recently paid a visit to Tala Game Reserve in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. Although there are no lions in this specific reserve, they do have some of the "Big Five", such as the rhino in the reserve. They also have many other large animals roaming the wild under the African skies..
So obviously, we were hoping to see some rhino, giraffes, kudu, and some other bigger species of the antelopes. And so we did.
But who would think in advance, "hey, I hope we can see an ostrich!" Yes, it would be nice if you happen to see one...or two... But we all want to see the exciting stuff.
But this brings me to the point I would like to make. In general, the young draws attention! Well, that's how I experience it.
Let me tell you why...
While driving slowly through the reserve, I noticed an ostrich and my natural response to my wife was, "look, there's an ostrich". Those words were barely spoken when I brought the car to a sudden stop and - this time with excitement - said, "Look, he's got some little one's with him!"
As I stopped the car, they came to a standstill too. Dad started looking around, and notice how the little one in the middle, always look in the same direction as his father...lol. I only noticed this afterward when I looked at my photos.
It was only in the next photo when he was looking in the same direction as his siblings...
We had a similar experience during a recent walk in a park just below the Durban Point Channels.
It was just after sunset when we saw this little family also on a little walk of their own. The minute we saw the young ones, out came the camera...lol!
And in my last photo, they posed for a nice family photo...😄!
And on that note, with the young always catching my attention, we come to the end of today's post.
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!
