This often happens after a large rain: the neighborhood is designed back in the 1950's to pool all the water to one spot, then a drainage system is supposed to drain it all away... but for years now (even back to when I was a child living next door) the street would flood. Rarely THIS high, but it would flood, going back DECADES.
This is a particularly heavy rain, flooding our street past the curb, past the sidewalk and into our lawns. Thankfully the houses are high enough from the street to keep the water from flooding our basements.
Except our basement did end up with about two inches of rainwater. Ugh. We have a sump pump, but when it rains this hard and fast, it simply cannot keep up. Especially when the power goes out and it falls behind.
So while our children are enjoying our lake-side property especially as car drive by, splashing everyone. The children say "CAR COMING!!!" and everyone shouts.
Sometimes the drivers wave at the children at play.
The children say "MOUTAIN SIZE TSNAMI!!!" which is a bit of an exaggeration.
While it's not fun dealing with a flooded basement, I am glad the children are enjoying the splash park by our house.
Sometimes we don't have to travel to fun places, fun places come to us. :-)
