My observations regarding public places

This week's topic:
Public Spaces - Do you think people take better care of public spaces if they find them beautiful? Or is caring for public spaces more closely related to their values and culture? What do you think would help people take better care of public spaces?

Public places can be defined as a place generally used by individuals. It can be owned by a single entity or government. But in most cases, public places is owned by government. For example, in some places just like mine, we have public water tap. It was provided by the government to the people. Not just that, we also have amusement parks, free viewing centers which we call Christmas village. All where made available by the government and those places looks beautiful. Now the question is, does people care for those places just because they are beautiful? Not really

People always take care of what it theirs not public places because, theirs this believe that, government has employed those who will care for public places. I mentioned Christmas village in my city. Yeah!! People do come to that place for relaxation, exercise, fun and as a recreation center. But guess what? When grass grows there, no one will volunteer himself to come weed the grass until government does it. Sometimes, after enjoying their snacks and drinks there, they left the nylons/empty container's there and went home. So, no one cares because it's not theirs. And government has made provisions for those who will take care of those places because of the money it's generating for them.

For people to take care of public places, it can only be possible when theirs a law governing such places like, anyone caught littering such places will paid some huge amounts of money. Secondly, the government should make sure such places are well kept at all times by paying those who has been employed to care for such places. And at the same time keep security agencies to monitor the public places. With that, people will be forced and at the same time used to be taking care of public places. This is my entry for this contest.

Nice post!👏
You are right, most times people take good care of what they own.

Setting a law that guides the behavior of people in public places is a good idea.

I agree with you totally, most people only take care of what belong to them. When it gets to publicly owned things they feel it's not their responsibility.

Too bad. There should be sanctioned to check such behaviours.

You are very correct

Thanks

Que pena que la gente no entienda que los espacios comunes pertenecen a todos!

Got it, so it's a cultural thing, that if there weren't a law prohibiting them from damaging or littering public spaces, people would neglect them. Meaning that they need someone watching over them to take care of something that isn't theirs.
