It is a pleasure to come back to this lovely community again this week to express my innermost feelings and thoughts over something detestable to me which if to say I have the power to issue laws in my country, I will and must set it as the Genesis of the laws.
I am going to answer one of the questions which says..
> If you had the power to create a single law in your country right now, what would it be?
Honestly, there are many things I am longing for our government to change or set laws against, but since I am giving the opportunity to mention only but one, let me start from the most important one.
The law I would like to create in my country
There is this saying that if one should carry someone to serve as his or her servant (be it male or female servant, househelp, house maid, housekeeper etc) that it concerns no one. It will be an agreement between the two parties or their families.
Ahh, what a bad!!!
Therefore, i would create law that one must seek for government approval and same time, write an agreement of how he or she would treat the person. Then, from time to time, government will send deligate
Why I will create the law
Since there is no suitable government approved law guiding or protecting servants from the hands of their masters, it have led to disappointments, corruption, human abuse, mistreatment, maltreatment, high rate of ritual, killing and many more.
I could remember vividly years ago when my own elder brother was carried to a far distant city by a man who claimed that he will teach him business. Base on agreement, he will serve the man for 7 years, thereafter, the man will settle him.
Do you know that he served him for good 7 years, instead of to settle him, he insisted that he must serve him for additional one year to which my brother accepted to avoid issues. He tried serving the master with all his heart. Now, seeing that he will set him free the next year, the master came back home and also pick my cousin brother. According to him, my brother is a very good and industrious young man. So, he believe that as long as the guy is our cousin, he must be good also.
Do you know that at the expiration of the 8th year, the master claimed that my brother stole his money. For sure, he didn't steal any money. He gave him the allegation as an excuse not to settle him. Imagine how it tastes like to serve someone for years and then left empty-handed.
At the moment, you may ask how about that our cousin? Our cousin was fully aware that my brother didn't collect or steal a pin, so when our people asked him to come back home, he said no because he want to open the eyes of those believing that my brother stole from him.
But do you know that at the expiration of the 7th year (base on their agreement) the man asked my cousin brother to serve him for extra one year of which my cousin refused. Because he refused to serve him for extra one year, he also gave him serious allegation claiming that he stole his money too.
He did likewise to all his servants claiming that either they did these or that.
Ever since then, almost all servants are experiencing same thing from the hands of their masters.
Now, let's imagine that before he took my brother with him, he registered both the agreement and everything in the hand of government. It means that at the expiration of the 7th year, government must make sure he settles him. And failure to do so must attract legal serious punishment from government. And if he should claim that he stole his money, he must give reasonable proof.
I don't know why people can't maintain trust and loyalty even without government laws. I wish I can change the whole thing to suite servants.
Many servants are experiencing starvation with heavy labor as if they're serving prison sentence with hard labour.
Why should there be difference between your own children and your house servant? The way you gave birth to your own children, is it not the same way that your servant mother gave birth to him or her? Why should even a stranger identify your servant from the first minutes he step his or her legs on your house? Look, whatever you sow, you must reap. Maybe, for the fact that the man mistreated and maltreated all his servants, there is no single child he can refer to as his own today.
