I think cooking with firewood is a very important skill to learn, even in my country the UK where we have ready available gas and electricity at a flip of a switch.

Why?

Well simple what happens when the gas and electricity stop?

Many people will struggle because they don't know basic human skills.

Your parents did you a favour teaching you this skill.

Personally i don't have such stories, my parents sucked and didn't teach us anything, i grew up on the streets and had to learn by teaching myself through trial and error.

To be honest i prefer cooking over a fire with wood.
