What Mom taught me during infancy saved me today. Thanks to mom.

‎Could you remember days of long ago especially when you were small, about those things that you were trained to do from infancy? Do you think it would be wise to abandon them just like that even when there is real need to make use of them?

‎While waiting for your genuine response, let me show you one that my parents taught me during tender age and how I practiced it again today.

‎I could remember vividly during my childhood days when my parents were struggling to make ends meet. We were very poor then, yet, Mom and Dad were always there for us irrespective of the hardship then.

‎Then, we do cook with firewood. So Mom taught each of us how to prepare delicious 😋 meals. Therefore, although we were using firewood to cook them, yet, each of us (both boys and girls) in the family learnt how to arrange and make fire with firewood without hurting or burning our skin.

‎One sweet thing about this method is that people do consider food made with firewood more thirsty.

‎So today, while preparing rice and beans, our gas finished. As today is Sunday, there was no time to run up and down in hunt of a gas station. Therefore, I remembered the days of little beginnings. Yea, I switched over to firewood cooking method.

‎I prepared both rice and beans with mere fire from firewood. The cooking method was just easy and fast. Imagine what I would have done in situation like this without learning this skill from my Mom.

‎The only disadvantage of this method is smoke. If you're not careful, you will keep on inhaling smoke which could result to health challenges tomorrow.

‎After preparing the meal, see how appetizing it became.

‎The main lessons are:

Even if you're living large and ornate, never you forget days of little beginnings because situation may call for it tomorrow.

No skill is a waste. Learn whatever you're opportune to learn now when you can because it may turn out to be your savior tomorrow

Humility is the key

‎Thanks for reading. I appreciate. See you again tomorrow.

I loved your post so much! Honestly, living in Cuba, I completely get what you mean because we have to improvise and find alternative ways to cook all the time. It’s amazing how those little things our parents taught us when we were kids end up saving the day when we least expect it. Thanks for such a lovely reminder, and that food looks absolutely delicious! Enjoy your meal

It's great to have that skill!

Thanks. I appreciate

I think cooking with firewood is a very important skill to learn, even in my country the UK where we have ready available gas and electricity at a flip of a switch.

Why?

Well simple what happens when the gas and electricity stop?

Many people will struggle because they don't know basic human skills.

Your parents did you a favour teaching you this skill.

Personally i don't have such stories, my parents sucked and didn't teach us anything, i grew up on the streets and had to learn by teaching myself through trial and error.

To be honest i prefer cooking over a fire with wood.

Have the best day

Ehhyaaa, do you know that many guys out there are misbehaving and irresponsible just because their parents didn't guide them properly or as the case may be, they lost them earlier in life. Therefore, they themselves don't even care to help themselves by theirselves. I love your determination.

If it should be a reality for us to see ourselves one day, i will teach you this akill
